3rd Trimester

Has anyone had to find a new doctor while being 8 mo pregnant?!?

Yep, I get to move to a brand new state and try and find a doctor I can trust.  I'm super stressed about this Indifferent  Time is running out, so I feel like I can't be too picky and just pick a doctor and stick with her.  Anyone else in my situation?  I will be about 35 weeks pregnant when it will be time to switch.

  • I switched from an OB to a midwife group at 37 weeks. Check out ratemds.com to find a doctor in that area. Call OBs/midwives NOW and don't wait until you move.

  • i also moved to a new state just a week ago. after a few recommendations, i found a new OB here. i was 35 weeks when i switched.

i didn't find it to be too big of a deal. good luck though!!

  • Where are you moving to?  Maybe someone on here can help you out with a recommendation.
  • I am in the same boat. We are moving from Louisiana to Texas (military move) at the end of the month. I will be 33 weeks... and I have to try to be able to schedule an appointment for the week we get there. I have a feeling it will be very hard considering I have to go to the big military hospital and to their OB clinic and I heard it is very hard to get appointments there... good luck!!!

  • I just switched OB's this week at 34 weeks because I've hated my ob for years. The new practice didn't care at all as long as I got my records which were easy to get.
  • I switched doctors at 32 weeks. The biggest headache was obtaining/transferring my medical records.  If you could get a personal copy of your records that would probably be best.  I basically used google to cross reference doctors names with what my insurance accepts. Good luck!
  • I'm moving next week and due to new insurance will not be able to be authorized for an OB until 36 1/2 weeks. Yeah, apparently they can't tell I'm pregnant by looking at me, someone else has to approve that. Then I will find try to make a doctor see me! I only have a few choices with this insurance so I'm very nervous. I've looked at online ratings and what not but they only freaked me out. Every one of the doctors I can use has at least one or two very negative reviews so try to look at the overall picture.   Good luck!

  • I switched OB's at 36 weeks due to a change in insurance. Yes it was scary and I honestly didn't think I would be able to find a doctor that I liked but after making a few phone calls, I was able to find a group that I LOVE! There are 3 docs there and they are all great!

See if there is a local board for where you are moving to and ask the gals there to recommend their doctors. That's where I heard about my new OB.
