Not pregnant yet, just tossing around name idea with my DH, but I was wondering what you guys thought of Micah Lee since we seem to agree on it. Micah we just like but Lee would be to honor his mother.
It's OK, but biblical names are NMS, so that's why I'm lukewarm on it. I've heard parents using Mica for girls (without the H), and I know that Mika /MEE-ka/ is a girls' name already. I'd put this name on the borderline unisex line (not that it is, but it could be.... unfortunately).
We didn't really pick it because of it's biblical significance. My DH and I just have such different style in names that at this point anything that we're both lukewarm about goes on the maybe list. I didn't really think about the fact that it was being used for girls so that's good to know. I am not a fan of unisex names at all especially since the middle name we're considering is technically unisex too.
I should have been more specific. We are considering this name for a BOY, not for a girl. We just figured that Lee was unisex enough that though we're honoring a woman it could be used on a boy too.
I love Michah for a boy, but I'm guessing with a MN Lee you're considering it for a girl.
Traditionally the feminine spelling for the same pronunciation is Leigh, though I've met both male and female owners of the L-E-E spelling. Lee is typically the more masculine spelling, as well as being a surname(it's my grandfather's MN, as well as that of his mother(though it may have been her maiden name), and my youngest aunt(who was given it because it was her father's MN)).
That said, with as many people as seem to think Micah makes a good "girl" or "unisex" name(despite being a traditionally male biblical name), I'd probably go with something that the general public won't have trouble figuring out the sex of the owner, if you're wanting to go with Lee as a MN. On the plus side, since you say you're not pregnant yet, you can still use the desired MN regardless of your future LO's sex.
I knew a Micah in college and always liked his name.
Now I know 3 girls with the name and all different spellings..Micah, Myka (gasp and brother is Maxx with 2 xs), and Mika.
I personally prefer it for a boy and Micah Lee is cute.
