Baby Names

Harrison?

The only boys names that we agree on is Harrison and Archer. Its not an I love it name, but thats it. I suggested more classic names but DH loves the more "different" names, especially Harrison. WDYT? What nn are there, besides Harry? I like James so I would def use that as a middle name, Harrison James. TIA

Re: Harrison?

  • I really like Harrison.  I think Harrison James is a great name.  Don't know about any other nicknames, but I'm ok with Harry.

  • When he was a Prince King Henry V was referred to as Harry and as Hal, so I don't see why u couldn't use Hal if that's more to your liking.

  • I really like Harrison.  And the one person I know with that name (a 60y adult) goes by Harrison (not Harry, not Harris, the full name) and always has.  I don't understand why so many people assume that you must shorten a long name.
  • I LOVE HARRISON! That's a great name! I actually really love the nn Harry, but I wouldn't dwell on nicknames now. You might end up calling him Peanut or Jimmy or Cutie or Moe. Who knows! Don't dwell on nicknames.

  • Love Harrison...I would try my best to not let anyone shorten it at all, but if they must shoo them towards Harris.

  • Really like Harrison James! Like the idea of Harris for a way to shorten it. I think other nicknames will come once baby Harrison arrives and as he gets older. Seems like it will just naturally work that way! Good luck!
  • I like Archer way better than Harrison.  Harrison is not really considered different in my region of the country.  I can think of several Harrisons that are under 2.

  • I love Harrison! It is on my list. The only thing that bugs me about it as that I do not think names need nicknames.... but other people do. I hate Harry and so does the husband, but are we going to have to spend our life correcting people? Will I be that pretentious sounding mom saying "Actually, it's Haaaaarrisonnnnnn". Haha. Although the suggestion of Harris is cute, I like it just Harrison. You don't have to shorten every name.

  • I love both Archer and Harrison!  I don't think either really need nicknames.
