What are they doing over there?!

OMG our neighbors are the LOUDEST people in the world!

We moved in early November and have rarely seen them but we know they are there because we can hear them stomping around and banging things and tapping on walls and blasting their tv. Our last house was a duplex too that had 2 kids and like 5 dogs running around in it and we didn't hear them HALF as much as we hear these people. They have had moving trucks out to their house 5 times in the past month but some how still seem to be living there?! What are they doing?

This is what the houses in my neighborhood look like.  They are less than 5 years old, very well made, I don't know how they can be loud enough for us to hear them every second of every day!

It is possible they aren't loud at all and you just have very thin walls. I imagine when you have a newborn in there they will feel the same way about you guys. 

(We have to be very consciously quiet in our place and mercifully our son's room and living room are NOT directly below any bedrooms, if they were it would be horrible to live above us! We have lived in 3 apartments in our building, including the two directly above us so I now understand why the person who used to live in our place thought we had buffalo...the upstairs cats running at night sound like a herd!)

Prime example of why I'd rather have an older, smaller, detached home than a shiny new semi-detached. We have an 1,100 square foot 1960's bungalow that DH grew up in. It's at the end of a dead-end street and other than hearing the recess bell in the elementary school in our backyard if we happen to be home during the day, we never hear our neighbours.
