Infertility

So, we got a new cat today...

This would be cat #3. ?Yes, we are slowly becoming "that couple".?

I feel so bad for this little guy, he is so sweet! ?He started coming around and I started feeding him. ?Now that it is getting cold, I didn't have the heart to leave him out there. ?

Cat #2... got here the same way.. I am a sucker.

Cat#1 from a shelter.

Can't Karma give me a few points? ??

I am holed up in the spare bedroom with the new cat... I hate the part where we have to introduce them all!?

Re: So, we got a new cat today...

  • I swear to God, we were separated at birth!

DH and I were going to adopt 3 siblings right before we got our cats, but someone else got them first.  The shelter where I wound up getting Lucy and Ethel from would only let me adopt two at one time.  Now I think our cats would flip if we got another so we have to stay far away from any cat adoption fairs at the Petco/Petsmarts in our area, because we could be "that couple" too.

I think cats are the best....except when they wake you up at 4 am by opening and climbing into your dresser drawers and cry when they get stuck in there ; )

  • Dude - I brought home my FOURTH a few weeks ago.  FOUR.  And that doesn't count the one I'm "fostering" who has been living in our guest room for the past year and a half because he hates all other cats.  We aren't becoming that couple.  We *are* that couple.

We had 5 until recently, when I lost my two feline leukemia kitties within a few months of eachother.  And this kitten that I brought home (but still can't come up with a name for) almost died.  He was moments from being euthanized - his temp was 91.5 when he came in (102.5 is normal).  But he pulled through it with some serious TLC.  How could we not adopt him???

It's very very dangerous working for a cat vet.

  • LOL at both of you!

The dresser drawers!!!!.... I did not know if that was an "all cat" thing or my crazy ones! ?That always cracks me up and they only do it in the middle of the night!

    ?

OK. Amber, you win! ?Holy cow! ?I get sucked in so easily, If I worked at a vet's office.... I am scared to think what would happen.

    ?

I am nervous that the "old" cats are not going to like this addition one bit. ?They are a little, ahem.... spoiled.?

  • I love cats and wish we could have one but DH has really bad asthma.  I used to have one before we were married and I still miss him!
  • Awww - you are so sweet! There is no such thing as too many cats. We had 3 cats in a tiny 1 BR apartment in law school. One of them went to live with my mom because she had peeing problems and we think it was because we weren't home enough, and now we have 3 again! All our kitties have been shelter kitties or strays except our Princess is a Purebred Embarrassed. Don't hate me.

Do you have pics of her?

Haha - such a true comparison, no? We have both always LOVED British Shorthairs and really wanted one. And my Princess was worth it. Plus, my silly justification was that we knew we'd get a kitten (I like old fatties but DH prefers to get cats from kitten age) and here at least, kittens are in pretty high demand so it's not like there are any at shelters that don't get adopted. To get Trotsky we had to show up as soon as the shelter opened and by the time we left he and all of his brothers had been spoken for.

  • I was just kidding, dearest.  You totally earned yourself a purebred.  You deserve whatever you heart desires!  And she's such a cutie pie!

I would love to post a pic, but seeing as I have not figured out how to get rid of the obnoxious pregnant belly next to my name, I am not holding out too much hope for ?a pip. ?:)
