I'm going to contact his doctor in the morning, but I am SO worried right now. I recall being told that I shouldn't be concerned with his temp unless it's 103 or 104. Well, I'm concerned and won't sleep at all tonight. Wondering if I should take him to the ER.
Re: 2 1/2 months old with a 101.2 temp - I'm worried
Thank you!
This, exactly!
This happened to use 2 weeks ago. DS was a few days under 2 months and and he had 101.4 (he also had a cold that DD gave to him). I called the oncall number (it was 8pm) and he said protocol was to go to ER. I'm a PA at the children's hospital, so I know they would rule out sepsis, which required a spinal tap. I told him I didn't want to put him through that if necessary and asked if we could stay home. He agreed as long as his temps were not rising and he wasn't wheezing. We did go in the AM and got blood work which was normal. That next day the fever resolved so I'm sooo glad we didn't go in. At his 2 month appt a few days later, he said that after 2 months, the cut off is 102, but to call if it does get that high. Good luck!
