Has anyone used Implanon for birth control? I am considering it and I don't personally know anyone who has used it, and I am interested in real life experiences. If you've used it, did/do you like it? Any unpleasant side effects? Would you recommend it to others? TIA.

Re: Implanon for birth control?
I had it put it after I had DD. I nursed DD for the first year. After a year of not having a period, it took another 6 months for it to arrive (which was awesome). But after it arrived my period came every other week and was horribly painful and heavy until I had it taken out 2 months later because I couldn't take it anymore.
Also the insertion was easy...it was the taking out part that was horrible. It took a good 10 minutes to get it out because my skin had grown to it. I will NEVER to Implanon again!
It is the same set of hormones (or similar) to the ones in nuvaring. I tried that & I did not do well with it at all. I literally wanted to mass murder people.
For that reason I wouldn't get it. I do like the idea of it being in the arm rather than the uterus, it freaks me out to have something up in there for some reason.
I had Implanon put in at my 6 week postpartum checkup after DS was born. I hated it, but didn't really realize how bad I hated it until I had it removed.
I had zero sex drive. I thought this was due to being PP, but it lasted WAY too long. DH didn't get any until 4 or 5 months postpartum, and then it was maybe once every 4 to 6 weeks... until DS was 18 months. I was much more anxious (I have an anxiety disorder anyway, but it was much worse with Implanon) and the medication I took once I stopped nursing DS was less effective than before. I didn't have any periods for a long time, which was a positive. And we got pregnant our second cycle after having it removed, so fertility returns just as soon as its removed. But, as PP said, removal was awful. My doc (not the one who put it in) said that all he does is remove them. He doesn't offer them and if someone asks for it, he won't put it in. The removal took about 15 minutes and I have a scar on my arm (it's faded, but about a quarter of an inch long).
