FFFC!

I am off on a snow day today, Jack is home with me. I am planning on doing little to no parenting today. Jack and I are going to watch lots of TV and eat lots of bad food while I fold laundry and diapers and such. I have a sinus thing going on that makes it hurt to even bend over or lay down. I am not stuffy at all, but my teeth are killing me because of this and my left eye feels like it might pop out if I cough too hard. Plus I coughed so hard threw up last night multiple times. Eff this.

Re: FFFC!

  • Yeah, I'm so going to get flamed for this.

I'm not meant to be a pet owner, I hate my (DH's) dog and I really don't really get why people treat their dogs like kids. I really did not appreciate waking up to find dog poop all over my 4 year old daughter's bedroom this morning.

  • My confession is that I am a toilet paper snob.  I hate that all public restrooms have ultra thin toilet paper that are absolutely useless.  The money they think they are saving goes out the window with me since I probably use 3 times a much as they think you should.  I have even taken my own roll to work before.

For those ladies wondering what to pack in their hosptial bag, I would include a roll of super absorbant and soft toilet paper.  The stuff they have at the hospital might as well be sandpaper after you have given birth.  I did this with my DS's birth and I was so glad I did.

I wasn't allowed to use TP after I gave birth...just the peri bottle.

I will do you one better...I love Cottonelle wipes like a fat kid loves cake. I know they are terrible for the plumbing and terrible for the environment. I think I do other things that balance it out though :-)

I do love the peri bottle though. Even after a c/s it was my bestie!

  • My friends H is being a spoiled brat today. She's not feeling that well and we (MH and I, said girl and another friend) want to just do dinner and something low key and he wants to go out drinking. We are usually really flexible and would usually go out with him (obviously I'm not drinking, just hanging out) but I think he's being so selfish that I don't want to do that just because he wants to.

Maybe my FFC should be that I go out with my friends and MH while they are drinking. Yes, I am the pregnant woman out at the bar getting stares from everyone. I'm over it.

  • I was just extremely rude to that man that smells like old cigarettes, who I was complaining about last FFFC.

I am so tired of him coming up to me every morning and asking all these damn questions! First of all, it took me an hour and a half to get to work, which normally only takes 30 minutes, because of this stupid snow that I wish would just go away and never come back. So, I'm not in the best mood to begin with. He asked if I wanted a soda-no, I don't want a soda, it's 9am. Maybe if he would have offered me Starbucks, I would have taken him up on his offer. Then he asked if I wanted a hot cocoa-again, maybe if he offered Starbucks, I would have taken the offer. Just too many questions in the morning when I've spent so much time in the car and now am late for work. Thank goodness it's pay day or else I would be one huge, mean, sarcastic b!tch today :)

Don't ever move out of the US. Even the softest TP here is like paper towel (and not the soft paper towel). I am also a toilet paper snob and we usually bring high quantities of it back with us from the US but last trip we didn't have room because of all of the baby's things. I am dealing... and supplementing with baby wipes.

  • I got up on a ladder yesterday and fidgeted with two light fixtures and bulbs. After DH told me not to!

Today, I plan on spending lots of money - home improvements, babybook scrapbooking, gifts, and maybe even a milkshake for myself. DH is lucky I warned him ahead of time!

  • I too am a toilet paper snob. I too agree why not get the better paper and people will use less.

I hate my work bathroom. there are only about 10 women in the front part of my office that use it. Can they not get it that they need to check the auto flush... they need to not flush sanitary items, and clean up before you leave the restroom you pigs... It makes me wonder how they function at home like this!!!

  • I also still go to the bar. Bar food is cheap, and all our friends are still childless and want to go out for wings. Everything here is non-smoking by law, so I really have no issues with it. We may eventually be those people in a pub for lunch carrying a carseat.

I let DH do all the painting, not because I have any problem with the smell or the "dangerous" fumes, but because I'm lazy and jealous he has the week off because he's a teacher.

  • I made a bowl of popcorn the other night and when I sat down to eat it(after asking him while I was cooking it and he said no) FI started munching away on MY popcorn. ;)  I honestly got so flipping annoyed he ended up eating well over half of the bowl and I got so peeved!  I didn't say anything, but I think he must have sensed how annoyed I was because he apologized for "eating all of your popcorn, babe".  I was so irritated that it followed me into my sleep and I had nightmares about it and woke up the next day in a terrible mood.  All of this over popcorn?!?!?  That's it, I am certifiable
  • MIL planned a shower for us, and invited like 50 women from her town that I don't know, and neither does DH.  Its a 4 1/2 hour trip for us to get over there.  After finding out that all these women are planning on coming I don't even really want to go.  I don't want to travel that far, and I don't want to have to make small talk with a bunch of people I don't know.  Yes, I know I'm being a brat, and I really am grateful for the shower and all her hard work.  I just don't want to go.

  • I am also a toilet paper snob and love cottonelle wipes! I'm also a germ freak/snob. My sister sneezes into her hand and I completely freak out if I see her do it and I keep sanitizer with me and glob it on her hands. I look insane when I do it too, like she did it while I was at the grocery store checking out and I stopped everything just to sanitize her hands with sanitizer I was buying at that moment. Tongue Tied But somehow it doesn't bother me if my DD wants to play in the mud.

My biggest regret about my baby shower is I can't have a couple glasses of wine and get a buzz on like I did to get through my bridal showers. I hate being the center of attention.

  • Mine, I am sick of feeling guilty about not gaining weight. People make it seem like I'm dieting or something and I'm not. So what if I haven't gained weight? I was chunky before I got pregnant. My eating habits changed and just growing a person has burnt calories. As long as the baby is healthy and on track then that's what should matter. I'm done feeling bad about it.

You do realize that this is a PUBLIC message board don't you?  I'm not as worried about the women who post regularly.  I'm worried about the people who lurk.  There have been some crazy stories in the past about women who have been fired from their jobs because some person e-mailed their posts to their boss (they were able to figure out who they were based on the personal info they shared).  There have been women who have been stalked as a result of their posts.  Dude, you have got to be safe and I don't think we are as safe to share as you have lead yourself to believe.

  • Apparently an actual flammable opinion:

I don't think it's that important to get kids into sports, nor do I think you're a bad parent if you don't. It's good to be involved in something, but sports aren't the be all and end all of that.

I also don't think enrolling your 6-month old in swim lessons is a sport. Or of any particular value beyond something to do with your kid at an age where they are still pretty boring.

I totally agree.  I think our society focuses way too much on sports.  I worked with children and it killed me when they complained about having to go play in a game.  If the kid isn't enjoying it then why are their parents making them do it?  I think that as a society we over-schedule our kids.  I can't tell you how many children I have had to counsel who were completely stressed out.  We are talking 1st graders here. It makes me sad.

I am judging her for it.

I have havent really gained anything either. I lost 10lbs due to ms and just now gained it all back so Im not over my pre-pg weight. • I think I just sabotaged my own glucose test. I grabbed some food before (non-fasting test) and ate my biscuit on the way, then came in drank my DELISH orange drink (seriously it tasted like a melted ice pop) and then waited...and i had a few tatter tots left over, so i snacked on them. I wasn't told not to...then the lab tech caught me. She called my doc to see if she wanted me to continue and doc said yea. If i fail they better let me just retake the 1 hr, and not send me thru the 3 hr thing. I wont cry if i do, but since they know what happened they shouldnt right?

    Dear Baby,

Kindly stop using your tiny, precious foot to jab me in the ribs.

    Love,

    Mommy

And I have a friend on facebook who posts an open letter to Fort Bragg at least once a week asking them to stop shooting and blowing crap up because it disturbs her sleep.  Ugh, SO annoying.

2 weeks ago I traveled across the country, then 3 days after I got back, I drove 6 hours to see my grandpa in the hospital. I am done traveling during this pregnancy. My body seriously has hated me all week as its been de-swelling and cramped (despite the miles of walking I did on my trips). I would decline any shower that was more than an hour away at this point.

I hate how I cant sleep because Im so uncomfortable. I know its only going to get worse, but I was finally starting to be able to enjoy my pregnancy without crazy morning sickness. I also feel really guilty that my husband has stepped up so much to keep the house clean because I'm getting lazy.

If i fail they better let me just retake the 1 hr, and not send me thru the 3 hr thing. I wont cry if i do, but since they know what happened they shouldnt right?

If I were your docs office, I'd make you take the 3 hour. Seriously, you were told to fast and you just ignored that advice?

She said it was a non-fasting test.

    Derp.  I misread.  :)

Still, who the eff eats DURING their test? Does common sense not exist anymore?

Yeah. No offense OP but it wasn't your brightest moment. You couldn't resist eating for an hour?

I'm sorry I've never done this before. This is my first pregnancy. All I was told going into this was you dont need to fast, drink this drink, wait one hour and we will draw  your blood.

My lab tech told me Specifically NO EATING WHILE WAITING, not even gum. Nothing. Maybe this was your labs mistake not warning you? Still, I had the no-fasting and I was super paranoid about not eating a few hours before to not screw up my test. That thought hadn't crossed your mind, just a bit? Not trying to rag on you, like I said the tech should have mentioned it.
