I was in the hospital for 5 days. 27 hours of labor before I had an emergency c-section. DD stayed in room with me for the most part, the nurses did take her out for check ups and such, I also had her go to the nursery for 3 hours one morning because I needed some sleep. I was under general for my section and had some breathing troubles after. DH had to go back to work after I had DD and would come and stay the night with us but leave during the day. So one morning after DH left at 4 am the nurse came and took DD with her and personally watched her until 7am when I promptly called to get her back.
I had DD Wednesday afternoon and didn't go home until Sunday morning. I had one of those evil c-sections and I probably exposed my DD to some sort of horrible chemicals.
Nobody said c-sections are evil.
Sorry, I'm in a pissy mood apparently. I read this as one of those "if you didn't want to deliver at home, you are the devil" posts. Clearly that isn't how you intended it.
Sorry if it sounded like that. I'm generally not a fan of hospitals and needles but I don't judge others who feel more comfortable with them, as long as they're educated about the risks and benefits of each option.
I don't know if I would have had a good home birth experience or not but I guess because I didn't have one and had no complications, I assume it would have been better than almost not getting to the hospital in time, worrying about being forced into procedures I didn't want, and the like. I think it's because my friends who had home births had good experiences.

I gave birth at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday and checked out at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. I wanted out the same day but the pediatrician wouldn't sign off. Was the soonest they'd let us go without signing out AMA.
I was there a total of 11 days. I had Pre-E at 36 weeks so they kept me there and induced me at 37 weeks. I wish I could have stayed a couple of extra days because DS had to go to the NICU and we had to leave the hospital without him which was awful.
I checked in on Saturday night and Checked out on Wednesday. If it were up to me, I would have stayed there for a month if I could. I never had a surgery as serious as a c-section prior to this and was being a big baby. I didn't want to move around because the incision hurt. I was totally out of it from the percocet. My mothering instincts did not kick in whatsoever. All I wanted to do was sleep and cry.

I checked in at 5am on a Thursday- left Saturday at 5pm. I had to stay at least 48 hours because I was GBS+ and rh negative so I needed extra monitoring. I was more than ready to leave though.

I was there for six days but three of those days was the induction and the emergency c-section. Then I recovered the rest of the time. I wanted to stay as long as possible because LO was in the NICU and I didnt want to leave him

4 days. I had a csection. But I never let her leave the room unless they were doing a check up.
Same here. The hospital I had him at had a baby stolen in 2008 and I was NOT going to let my brand new son be taken anywhere! If they took him for any testing/checkup, etc- my DH went with them.
I didn't realize that that was the hospital you had turtle in. Yikes!
Yep. And I didnt have a choice unless I wanted to switch OBs and given my history with her, I wasnt going to give her up!

2 days... 2 long weekend days. We didn't really get any alone time. We even had people watching Sunday night football there. Advice: If you're ever induced, have baby on a Tues or Wed so that people can't visit ALL. DAY. LONG...

Sleep with Jesus sweet baby.
Induced Wednesday night at 2330. Discharged with both twins Saturday afternoon.
I didn't want to leave. I was fvcking terrified to go home with the babies. I did not fall in love with them immediately. They were screaming little strangers to me and I hadn't slept for going on 48 hours. I wanted to stay in the hospital where I knew there were other people around to help me out. (turned out I had/have severe PPD).
I work in a hospital so they don't give me the creeps. I'm quite comfortable in a hospital setting.

OMGosh that's crazy! At our hospital, all the babies had sensor tags on their bands and if they went past a certain point the alarm would go off and all the doors would lock. I went past the sensor once with her :::face palm:::
We had the sensors as well. Our problem was that my room was the last one before the exit door so when they took him out of my room they had to hurry out the door or the sensor would go off. It happened twice, and of course everyone freaks out because of their history.

Checked in about 11:30 PM on Sunday, and left mid-afternoon on Thursday when they transferred DS to another hospital. I would have stayed as a patient until Friday if he wouldn't have been transferred, and then longer as a guest if he would have been there past Friday.
i was admitted on friday morning for an induction, then discharged on tuesday morning. i had pre-e and lost alot of blood, so they wanted me to stay a little longer. DS was with me the whole time, the hospital i had him at does not have a nursery, but even if they did, i would have had him room-in with me.
I had a pretty normal vaginal birth. Stayed 48 hours. Went in around 4:30 pm unfortunately the epi slowed LO way down and he didn't arrive until after midnight! I could've left earlier but my OB was supposed to come and do the circumcision and I called hours later only to find out her nurse didn't give her the message. No biggie I just wanted to take LO home so we just did the circ in a few days.
We were there exactly 24 hours. I had a great experience while we were there, but it was nice to get home.

Everything is done in the mama's room at my hospital. The question of her leaving my side never even came up. There is a nursery, if we had wanted.

I should add: I was supposed to be induced Monday night, but ended up going into labor on my own the night before. And I ended up with a c-section the following morning.
I went in on a Wednesday for an induction. J arrived Friday via c/s. I was in the hospital until Sunday. The doc wanted me to stay another day, but b/c I did so well he let me go home early.
I had a great Labor and Delivery experience. I was very unhappy with Mom/Baby Unit. J roomed with me the whole time and I had a horrible nurse Saturday night that freaked out b/c J slept 6 hours and I didn't wake him to feed him. This is the same nurse who took him for his heel prick test without waking me up to tell me he was going. Needless to say I freaked and she got ripped a new a!!hole.

6 hours. I delivered at 1:04pm and was discharged shortly after 7pm. I realize I am the rarity- I was d/c'ed becasue my dd was transferred to Johns Hopkins and was having her first surgery. I ended up delivering drug free (not my plan but didnt have an option) and was ok enough to leave. I was walking around the NICU that night.
I was admitted on a Wednesday, had the boys on Friday and was discharged on Monday. I was admitted early for hbp. I also had to do a 24 hour urine and blood tests, the results of which led to my c-section on Friday. My blood pressure remained high, which is why they kept me until Monday.
I love our hospital. It's a brand new Women's and Children's Hospital with private NICU rooms. It's very modern and very secure.

I went on Monday at 5pm to be induced, had my c-section at 7:30pm on Tuesday and was released on Friday at 11 am.

I went in around 9am on Saturday and was discharged at 5pm on Wednesday.
Not my idea of a good time ... but it was needed.

I stayed for 24 hours with DS and four days with DD (c-section).
DS was born at 6:30 pm, so we stayed that night and one more night
I was happy to have the extra rest!
