The post is just a bunch of randomness about your little matey.
First that pic of J and S sitting in the laundry basket is too funny. I know you have mentioned that he wears his pirate hat all.the.time but this puts an actual picture to it.
How did he react when you took his hat away for the night since he has been regressing on PT? I'm just curious because it seems like he might of had a slight panic attack I'm sure, lol.
How did he get so into pirates? Was it a particular book, show, movie? I have bought Evan a few books about pirates but he wanted nothing to do with them but he seems to be getting a little more into me reading them.
Evan is still obsessed with anything trains. No matter what it is he will turn it into a train track - his immagination with this is pretty impressive to me but I'm so sick of playing trains! Mostly because the trains have to be in a specific order most of the time and how dare you push any other car then the engine car to move the train!
I remember you mentioning once that J doesn't like to play with toys to much that he is just into acting like a pirate. (I think I have that right, if not sorry) Anyway I was looking at some websites and saw the huge pirate collection PlayMobile has. Does he play with something like this at all?
Re: *MelissaMc* long post about nothing :)
Hey! Cool, I love all the questions!
We got that pirate hat last May for $1.00 at a yard sale. He wears it EVERY single day. Wakes up to pee at 2AM? Pirate hat.Even I rarely see him without it. Everyday, no matter what. Except church and preschool, and even then he has to have it in the car. It has spawned an all out obsession.
He really knows so much about pirates, he could name all kinds of famous pirates, parts of the ship, different pirate terms most people don't know. He loves it so much.
I do take away his pirate hat as a punishment a couple times a week, it always straightens him up pretty qiuckly. He also has a "tying pirate hat" as he calls it, that he wears sometimes too. Today, he wore them both together.
Luckily we haven't had any more issues with PT regression except for those 3 days, it was so weird. Maybe because he was getting sick? I don't know.
Playing independently is something we struggle with Jack every day, (did you see my FB post?!) Unfortuantly, he doesn't play well alone and tends to follow me around whining begging me to play pirates with him. He absolutely has zeo interest in coloring, puzzles, playdoh, arts and crafts, cars, trains etc. He will play those things if I play with him, but never alone. It is a never ending battle and absolutely exhausts me.
He does have a few imaginext pirate ships, and he did get that awesome playmobile ship you mentioned. I keep them in his room for him organized and away from S so he can play anytime he wants. He just rarely does. If myself of DH sits down with him, he comes up with the most creative amazing stories about Captain Black beard and Buried treasure and sea serpants and fire breathing dragons.....but alone, not so much. I wish it was different.
Jacks idea of "playing" is pullling all the couch cushions off and creating barriers, playing in the hamper, or running around whacking things with his swords. While these are all great forms of imaginative play, he still won't do anything else.
I think it is adorable that Evan likes trains so much, he has been into those for awhile. Does he like Thomas, or all trains?
BTW, I have a NWT gymboree train shirt Jack never wore, it's a 3 or 4T, you want it?
Gladto see you guys are doing well!
