Carters 24M vs 2T sizing?

How do they really compare between 24month and 2T at Carter's?  DD is pushing the 18 month sizes right now, (she's about 32" tall, and about 25 lbs, though I know that can vary from child to child in how clothes fit) and my mom wants to buy DD some clothes for her Bday next month.  I'm not sure if I should have her order 24month or 2T?  I don't mind things being big, I know she'll grow into them, but I'm not sure what to get?  Thanks!

  • 2T jeans, where my DD is concerned, have a bigger waist and longer legs than the 24mths. Shirts are a little wider, longer sleeves...but not by much.

  • If you look at their sizing chart I think it says what the difference is.  I believe the main difference is for height.  The 2Ts are generally for taller children (i.e. longer legs, shirt length, sleeve).

  • They are about the same size. 2T is intended not to have diapers in them, so 24 months are a bit wider in the butt. Overall, I saw little difference in the sizes.

  • I don't mind if shirt sleeves are a little long, I just cuff them. With pants I always get the best fit because I personally don't like when the waist is too big and you can see their diapers. So if it were me, I'd get 24 mo pants and 2t shirts. Maybe you could try a couple on her.
  • I've found that 24 m is the equivalent of 18-24month, and 2T is from 24 months to age 3.
