Hi Ladies! You all have been really supportive and helpful this week - so first and foremost - THANK YOU so much!!! Now, I'm going to return once more to the well of wisdom that is PAL and ask WWYD? This is very complex, so please bear with me - I'll try to be brief.
Situation: I work with a small team of (3) men and (2) women (not including me) - who I absolutely adore. They're great people and I am very lucky. One of the guys is kind of a scatterbrained guy in his 50's. For some reason he "recalls" a conversation about 4 weeks ago where I told him that I was 13 weeks pg - and of course, he told my other team members. Unbeknownst to me, the other ladies on the team have been watching to see if I'm getting bigger but they don't see anything and one of them finally asks me on Tuesday if I'm pg. (Side note: I rec'd my faint BFP on Monday this week.) I look at her like a deer in the headlights - wildly trying to figure out how she knew about my BFP - then she explains what Scatterbrains told her. I LOL and deny it. (Never had the conversation with Scatterbrains - I truly have no idea what he's talking about. Plus, I wouldn't ever tell him first, I'd tell my boss, then the team. I think he must have had a dream or something.) Anyway, I had to go around and tell all of my co-workers that "no, I am not pg - as far as I know" on Tuesday. Now everyone is cracking jokes about me being pg - "Wow, you sure got in early, even with morning sickness - I'm so impressed." and "You look great for being 17 weeks along." My boss even wants me to put a pillow in my shirt on April Fool's just to bug Scatterbrains.
Problem is: It's all harmless fun (and really we're just poking fun at Scatterbrains) - but now mere mention of it hurts because AF showed up today. I'm not pg anymore - it was a C/P.
Question is: What do I do? Do I just let this play out and hope that the jokes die off? Or do I tell someone and they'll knock it off? The lady that asked me if I was pg has had a m/c before and she's very outspoken - she can put an end to it - but I don't want to make everyone feel bad or feel sorry for me. It's a sticky wicket. Help! WWYD?
Re: WWYD?
I think that if it were me, I would just tell them all that the joking is really bothering you and making you uncomfortable. You could just leave it at that and not elaborate if you don't want to.
And I am so sorry for your loss. (((HUGS)))
First.. I am so sorry about the c/p Big hugs to you for that...
Second.. that is such awful timing to be caught in such an odd situation at work.. first, scatterbrain should be smacked upside his head for spreading something that wasn't
