does anyone actually heat their babies' purees?

we just started solids two weeks ago and a post on the 6-9 board got me wondering if anyone actually heats up their babies' food?  I did it once and realized it was cold by the time I got two bites into them anyways, so what's the point. Maybe us MoM's just have to be more efficient, so these realizations come quicker. I do bring it to room temperature (by letting it sit out for little while beforehand). So anyways, it just got me wondering.

  • and I just have to add...I've been trying to downsize my siggy pic for 2 days, but everytime I try to update the link in my siggy, I get a stupid bump error! It's driving me insane.

  • i mixed the purees with rice cereal, that i made with hot water from the tap.

Our kitchen cabinets are freezing in the winter - b/c of poor insulation to the outside wall - so the purees in that cabinet were always really cold - mixing it with the hot water probably brought it to about room temp.

if they'll eat them room temp or cold- go for it. no need to waste time.

  • I freeze my own, so I microwave to defrost. The only thing I purposely make warm is their bedtime bottle.

  • we make all formula for the day early in the morning... including the formula for their cereal.  The cereal we make we warm in the microwave for 20 seconds on 50% power to make it not cold anymore.  we still warm their bottles, but none of the purees we give are warm.  everything is either cold or room-temp.

  • If I make it in advance and it is stored in the fridge, then I heat it in the microwave to warm it up.  Otherwise, it is room temperature.

  • i didnt even heat their bottles when they were babies, so no, i never heated their purees either. they never cared and i valued saving 10 seconds in the middle of the night (for the bottle part). in the end i think that helped make our transition to milk easier too. and when i mean easier i mean it was so easy it couldnt have been any easier (i gave them milk, they drank milk, they loved milk. the end).
  • I never heated them, none of our kids minded ; )
