Anyone take the kids to Disney yet?

Hi all!  We are planning a trip to Disney for a 4 year old and 10 month old.   For those that have gone already, would you recommend staying on-site and not getting a car or staying off-site (but close) and getting a car.  I know each has its pros/cons but wanted to see what others did/thought.  Thanks.

  • We're going soon.  We decided to stay at the park so we can take advantage of the extra hours and so we can head back to the hotel if we need a break mid-day.

  • I would most definitely stay on site.  It is much easier transportation wise, and you get extra perks.

  • We stayed at a Disney hotel (Port Orleans Riverside).   I have nothing to compare it to but we enjoyed ourselves.  It was a PITA to get out double stroller on and off the bus (I was pregnant) but I can't imagine the traffic and parking lot issues.  I saw the parking lot, it was vast! Next time, I hope to stay at a hotel with the rail!

  • Def stay on site and then you get free transportation from the airport to your resort and to all the parks. They even take your suit cases from the airport to your room at your resort. You literally do not see them once they are on the plane and then you see them again in your room within 3 hours of arriving. We LOVED Port Orleans French Quarter and highly recommend it. We also stayed at the deluxe level of Animal Kingdom Lodge and seriously for the extra 1K more just because it was a deluxe it was NOT worth it. The bus ride was longer to all the parks other than AK and it made 2 stops whereas POFQ is very centrally located and is the only stop on the bus. IF you have extra money to spend on the hotel I would stay on the monorail but again it is an extra 1K upgrade from the moderate levels which are really nice. We want to stay at the Polynesian on our next visit because it is on the monorail and quick and easy to get to the parks. Have a blast...it IS the most magical place on earth:)
