10 weeks- lower back ache?

This is my third discussion in 3 days!  Man, I wish I could think about anything beyond my ever-evolving symptoms.

I've had 2 mmc's in the past so I tend to worry a lot (I also have one healthy daughter).

Anyway, back ache.  I've had it for the past few days on and off and it's been particularly noticeable for the last 24 hours (not severe- just THERE), though it did ease up over night when I was lying down.  Anyone else have this?  I'm particularly anxious to hear stories of "I had it, and everything turned out fine" just because I'm freaking out right now over the possibility of it being a bad sign.

Thanks for any insight.

Re: 10 weeks- lower back ache?

  • Hey there! I don't know if this will help put your mind at ease or not, but I had the same thing around 11 weeks (even had some cramping in my hips/lower back). It's a week later, and I just had an u/s yesterday confirming that baby is just fine! Do you have a tilted uterus? I'd do and My doc said that sometimes women with that are more prone to lower back aches in pg.

I'm sure everything is fine, but I totally understand your concern!

  • I'm 10w3d and I've noticed at the beginning of each new week I've had lower back ache. So far everything is good. I go the dr for an u/s every week since I've had 2 losses due to MTHFR.
  • Thanks to both of you.  And actually hokiejenn that REALLY helps because YES I do have a tilted uterus!  I remember back ache with my daughter but it wasn't till later in my pregnancy (16 weeks or so- bad enough that I went to ER in a panic but all was fine).
  • My back hurts all the time, yesterday at the us my tech asked me if I was experiencing back pain since the baby was sitting so far back. Back pain is normal!
  • Yes, yes, yes!!! Mine has been driving me crazy since right around 10 weeks (I'm 12 now).  Like you said, not severe, but very noticeable, the kind that I would be inclined to use a heating pad for if not for, you know, being pregnant.

Some stretches have helped a bit -- cat/cows and other lower back stretches, as well as getting up and walking around if I have to sit for too long.
  • My lower back is always sore!!  I didn't get lower back pain with DD until 30 weeks, this one started at week 8!!  The moment I get in the car I turn on my butt warmers just to get some relief on my lower back.  I have heard heating pads aren't bad as long as it is low heat and short periods of time (but I would verify with your doctor.)  I am also thinking about getting a back rest for my chair at work.  Good luck!!

  • Phew- you ladies know how to bring a girl relief!  I used a heating pad to warm my bed up last night, and that brought some relief.  It's actually okay just this second but was so persistent yesterday, I was really worried.
