HI ladies!! Its my first time posting on here, so I apologize in advance if there was another post concerning the same question. Im currently 38 wks 2 days!! and my little princess is breech; is there anything you ladies would suggest in terms of helping her move on down to where she needs to be? I'm not against c-sections at all but its the fact that its a surgical procedure & I could've have done it without any interventions is what is upsetting me a bit. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading
Re: FTM worried about C-section
I'm in the same boat. 38w6d, breech, and scheduled for a c/s on Monday. Honestly, I have read everything there is to read on the subject, and the chance that baby will flip at this point is extremely low. Nevertheless, there are things to try:
- Do the exercises suggested on www.spinningbabies.com. Lie at a 45 degree incline, do the downward dog, crawl around on hands and knees.
- Play music or have DH talk to your lower belly.
- External cephalic version. Some doctors are willing to attempt this, but most are reluctant to do so this late.
- Moxibustion / accupuncture.
- Chiropractic (Webster method). But this probably won't be terribly helpful at this point.
I have tried every one of the above, to no avail. But it's worth a try and will help you feel more confident about having to go forward with the c/s. I have started to believe that LO is in this position for a reason (he's been there the whole pregnancy), so I think that the natural delivery I'd planned might have been problematic, anyway.
I posted a very similar post last week. I'm scheduled for c/s a week from today. I'm bummed about the surgery, but am resolved to stay positive. I was pretty weepy and negative last week about it but decided that kind of attitude was not going to help me and probably prolong the healing process.... so I'm thinking positive thoughts!
My doc told me that there is usually a reason for the baby to stay in a breech position--like the cord is too short, the placenta is in the way, the uterus is misshaped. So I guess we should just trust mother nature...having a vaginal delivery could have been dangerous.
I also tried those exercise, but it didn't do anything....
Hang in there....let's all think about the beautiful babies we're going to have very soon!!!
I knew going into my induction, that our chances of having a c/s were pretty good (3 weeks early and no signs of labor). I was terrified. When it came down to being wheeled to to the OR, I was so excited about meeting LO that I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be. I expected the whole experience to be awful, but it really wasn't. It wasn't what I had planned, but it was the birth of my beautiful daughter and I wouldn't change a thing. The recovery was much easier than I expected. I'm 3 1/2 weeks PP and really feel pretty normal other than my incision stinging a little.
I promise, meeting your LO will trump any fears of the surgery. GL, girls!
