I ordered my first from Star Baby Designs. I don't have it yet. But, here's my question.....besides long drying time, is there another down side to them? It seems like the best of both worlds....the look of a fitted and functions similar to a pocket (but you can't really adjust absorbency as much). Am I right?
Re: AI2s
AI2's don't generally have long drying time. The soaker snaps out so that it dries faster.
The reason I don't like them is that I feel like they're the worst of both worlds... they're more expensive than prefolds, but not as easy to use for the non-cloth-initiated as pockets and AIOs (since you have to fiddle with changing the insert).
That said, I know a lot of people like them. They can be more cost-effective than pockets/AIOs (because you can reuse the shell) but don't have as much of a learning curve as prefolds. They are also good for in the diaper bag and for traveling, because you can just bring a couple of inserts (reusing the shell), rather than having to bring an entire diaper.
Mommy to DD1 (June 2007), DS (January 2010), DD2 (July 2012), and The Next One (EDD 3/31/2015)
I do think they are the best of both worlds. I love the prints, and I love that I don't have to cover them. I am not sure what inserts the pp is taking about because they (at least the SBD) don't have any inserts to change. It looks just like a goodmama on the inside but requires no cover.
I plan on buying several more SBD. I have 1 on the way right now, and I cant wait to post an OTB picture!
Did you show me the Seuss SBD?
That would be my neighbor Holly. She is Hvanack on here.
