HELP! DD has diarrhea!

Oh my Gawsh!!!!  We are talking 3 blowouts in 30 minutes...  She is 18 mos and has never had diarrhea before.  What in the world can I give her to settle her stomach?  Is there any over the counter diarrhea meds for kids, what do you recommend?  I do have pedialyte, so Im not worried about her dehydrating.   She isn't acting sick at all, just keeps coming up to me when she wants to be changed... :/

Re: HELP! DD has diarrhea!

  • DS had it for 3 days after it went around his entire room at day care. Avoid giving her milk and just offer lots of pedialyte along with bananas and toast. Its certainly not a pleasant time but look at it positively, she made it 18 months without diarrhea! :) Hope things get better!

  • Could it be molars?  Either way, do you have any yogurt in the house?  Culturelle or any other live cultures type thing would be better so you can avoid dairy in case it is a stomach bug, but yogurt always clears up my kids' diarrhea in a day or less.  I just tried the Culturelle last week when my pedi recommended it because the kids were getting over the stomach bug and the dairy upset their tummies.  It seemed to work just as well and you can mix it into almost any cold food or drink.
  • I dont have any yogurt in house right now but am about to head to the store. I will look for it.  Im willing to try anything!  Poor thing, that mess is rank!  Thanks ladies!

  • BRAT organic drink.  You can get it at BRU.  It clears my LOs up in a few hours.  I pick it up every time they are prescribed an antibiotic.
  • We've been battling it for almost 3 weeks now. we've been on the BRAT diet for 2 weeks and now we're easing back into regular foods.
  • Thanks!  I'll check that out.  She was on an antibiotic all last week, plus I think I can feel two bottom molars starting to push up through her gums.  Maybe its a combination of the two causing it.
