We had our evaluation with Star Cranial yesterday and Evie definitely needs a "cranial remolding orthotic device." (aka a helmet) The people at Star were very nice, and are helping us work through the various insurance issues. If that goes quickly/smoothly within the next 3 - 4 weeks Evie will get her helmet. She'll have to wear it 23 hours a day for the next 3-5 months.
Re: quick F/U Cranial Exam
Wow! Your poor LO - I'm sorry she (and you) have to go through all this! At least she will never have any memory of this. I know its not much comfort now, but hopefully having all these interventions now will prevent or minimize any future issues.

My little guy is a graduate of Star Cranial. I love all of the ladies there! Leah was our orthotist and we miss her
I know how overwhelming it is to hear that your baby needs to wear a band but I found the snticipation to be worse than the actual process. Finn was only in his band for 8 weeks! He went from a 13 to a 3.5.
Let me know if you have any questions! Does your baby receive PT? Does she have torticolis?
Here is a picture of my cutie in his star band:
and here he is now with his perfect little head:
ITA :hugs: and thanks for the update!
I just wanted to say that your son is gorgeous!
@ RottNJades
I am strating my starband journey soon too. How old was your Lo when he started treatment? I am also working with Leah too
Oh and finn is adorable!!
Thank you so much for all the support! Yes, DD has torticollis. She is also already in Early Intervention. We have seen amazing progress with the PTs throught EI.
It was actually that PT that first mentioned Star Cranial to us. At first our Ped wanted to see if her head would round out on its own once DD was sitting up. Unfortunately by the time that occured she was already 9 months.
It looks like she'll be close to 11 months before the StarBand comes in. Due to DD's advanced age it may take a little longer to get the results they want. They said it could be up to 5 months. We are also working with Leah.
Finn is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you for all the compliments on Finnegan- he is such a sweetheart
Finnegan was very young when he got his helmet-- I think he had just turned 5 months old. He wore it for 8 weeks for 23 hours a day and then wore it only at night for a few weeks after that. It was such a big deal to me when I found out he needed one but the time went by so fast and now I barely remember what it was like when he had it!
A word of caution-- those helmets start to STINK. Make sure you clean it every night! Finn has very sensitive skin and he always had marks from the helmet. We eneded up having to clean the helmet with rubbing alcohol and then a scrub with baby shampoo and then le tit dry completely before putting it back on his head.
