Lately my poopy dipes have been coming out of the wash stinky, like the poop wasn't completely cleaned out. I rinse my dipes pretty quickly after they're soiled and wash every other day. I use RnG Hard Rock and haven't had any issues with this before. I've resorted to soaking them in RnG overnight before wash day to combat the issue. But this uses up soap and is inconvenient. I also did a soak in Funk Rock which seems to have worked okay on the stink.
My wash routine has remained the same, cold rinse then hot wash followed by two cold rinses. Do I need to strip my dipes? Usually washing the stinky dipes twice takes care of the smell. I'm so frustrated.
Re: Did RnG just stop working for anyone?
I've used RnG since day one with no stink issues (we started CDing back in July 2010). I've found that when our water softener needs to have salt added, my diapers seem less good (not sure of a better way to say it). So when DH filled it up this weekend and I did a load of diapers, they came out AMAZINGLY clean! I use classic rock since our softened hard water is still hard-ish.
On a side note, I am on Stephanie's mailing list at Abby's Lane and she recommended cutting out the cold rinse at the beginning. I've found that my diapers are actually BETTER when I just go straight for the hot wash and do 2 rinses afterward. (We have a front loader.)
