  • You know, I was just going to comment on your pups! I noticed that Pippin is a Great Pyr mix. Love me some Pyrs. Sampson is our Pyr, we got him from a rescue in Jan '09. He is the quirkiest dog but we're crazy about him! The other one is Molly, she's a lab, but a rescue as the breeder dumped her because she was born with a nubbed tail. I think her lack of a tail is fantastic - less drinks & other misc stuff flying off my coffee table!

  • Butting in for some puppy and pyr talk :-)

I'm also watching Breed all about it on animal planet which has Pyrs on this episode.  Have you gals hears of 2 dogs 2000 miles?  they're on this episode- it's a guy and his pyrs that raise money for cancer research.

love both of your guys' pups

  • Both of ours are rescues as well.  Your house sounds like ours w/ a GP & lab.  My then boyfriend/now husband brought Steve home in April 2004 when he was only 4 1/2 weeks old (SO tiny) because the family who had the parents and litter were getting ready to dump them in a shelter.  Steve is a lab/pit mix.  Steve's a total baby/120 lb. lap dog with a ton of lab energy and pit loyalty.

Pippin used to live down the alley from us. When my tender-hearted DH would walk Steve down to play with a friend, he'd give Pipp treats because she was ALWAYS outside.  (Even in Texas summers.)  He noticed she was gone one day & asked the owners about her.  Those stupid people dumped her at the SPCA, so we rushed & got her the next day.  That was August of 2005.

Thankfully, Steve and Pippin fell in love pretty quickly since we had no clue what would happen.  I went from not liking animals much (other than my cat, Mindy) to a crazy dog lady.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  :)

I have heard of the 2 dogs 2000 miles, I think I ever checked out his website/blog once as well. I tried to find that show you were talking about but it doesn't look like Animal Planet is showing it in my area.

I love all the puppy pics!

People infuriate me! Thank goodness you guys were able to get down there and get Pippin.  The world needs more compassionate people like you! All your pets are so cute!

  • Never heard of it.  I'll have to search APL and see when they plan to show it again.

  • they have a fb page too.  It's pretty cute way to raise awareness.  It's all in honor of his dog that died of cancer.

Kekis- I never knew your pups stories.  They're living the good life now, huh?   All ours are rescues too.

  • If by "the good life" you mean Mindy sleeping in our bed, Pippin sleeping soundly on one leather couch, and Steve sleeping next to me amid doggy dreams on the other leather couch, then yes . . . they are living the good life.

We had Mackey, DH's American Eskimo Spitz, but lost him last May. He was the sweetest, strangest, goofiest dog I'd ever met.  DH rescued him from his neglectful roommate at the time.  Mack was just a pup and contracted parvo. DH saved his life and they were thick as thieves. It's still hard without him here - esp on DH.
