What is the deal with G diapers, I saw can do cloth/disposable inserts? Just wanted feed back if these are even a good option to consider or if they are not that great.
You are going to get different opinions on these. I had some and didn't like them. I thought the velcro was crappy, and I just didn't really like them like I thought I would.
I have heard that they improved the velcro though.
We use them for Natalie with gcloth and they work great for her. I'm not a fan of the disposable inserts - If I want something to throw away, I'll use regular disposables.
They do not work for Dominic well, all the time - it's hit and miss for him. But, for Natalie, they are my favorite.
Yeah, gDiapers is definitely one of those things you'll get varying opinions on. I tried the disposable inserts on vacation and didn't like them at all. I blogged about it, and had a detailed comment from a faithful gDiaper-ing mom about how I could have mitigated the issues I had. So really, it is very subjective. And apparently there's a lot of support for gDiaper users.
They work well for Bryce - I just like the Flips that we have better since they are one size and the gDiapers aren't. We bought the disposable inserts and I ended up selling them since we never used them. We just use disposable diapers on the rare occasion that we need something disposable.
I could take them or leave them. I absolutely hate the gCloth. I prepped them as directed and whenever I use them, DS's skin is all wet. However, the system works well with regular pre-folds (although they're a little bulkier this way). Overall, the system works well. I think the velcro is much stronger on my gPants than on any of my pocket or AIO aplix dipes (this must have been updated recently). I have never had a leak. A couple of times the gPants got a little damp, but not a true leak, really.
They just seem like so much extra work. DH prefers them because I pre-load the liners, so he just snaps them in and out, but I think my other CD's are easier. I would recommend buying a 2 pack of the gPants at BRU (the 2 packs are around $26 there and they come with an extra liner- for a total 3) and use regular pre-folds so you can try the system out with less of an investment.
I'm a GroVia (another hybrid) user and looked at gDiaper and Flip, as well. I chose Grovia because I thought they were simpler and better made than the gDiaper. The Flip was a close second, but I liked the Grovia sposie inserts better (although the Flip sposie inserts are cheaper). We mostly use the washable soakers and, so far, I'm very happy with them. Grovia offers both snap or aplix closures, too.
2 years TTC with 5 losses, 1 year recovering, 6 months applying for adoption approval, and almost a year waiting for a placement. Then, a miracle BFP at age 36!
