I really don't know if there is a difference between Pampers and Huggies... but what do you like? Why?
We went to register this weekend and I couldn't decide which to register for... do you think I should register for 1 of each to try both out and see what works? TIA for the advice and sharing!
Re: What's your diaper preference?
I like Huggies b/c they aren't scented like Pampers. There are also tons of store brands that are good too.
Register for several different kinds and just see what you/your LO likes. I think Huggies NB have a cut out for the umbilical cord scab too, but I could be wrong.
I didn't register for diapers, it's not really something personally I would register for. We have tried Pampers (swaddlers are what they had in the hospital and we went home with a ton), Huggies (what we now use just because my mom picks them up from Sams for us), Target Brand, Luvs, and we've never had a problem with any of them.
I think it really depends on the baby, I've had friends that have had problems with certain brands, so it's kind of what works for your baby and their body. If you deliver in a hospital they should have a bunch in the room with you, take all the extras you haven't used and have a small package of NB size at home to start with. If you like them continue and just try out other brands.
I don't really have a preference. We haven't had a problem with Pampers, Huggies, Luvs or some of the store brands. (I didn't like the BJ's brand that much though - sent those to DCP.) I use whatever is cheapest based on sales/coupons/Amazon.
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
pampers reek like chemicals and one of the styles has this mesh liner, the poo always sticks to it and her butt. I absolutely hated all the pampers we tried. We use huggies because like pp said they don't smell and run small (i have a skinny one). I started with the pure and natural and now use the little snugglers. we also use some cloth. the target diapers are fine but are huge on my LO.
It all depends on shape and preference. Get a few size 1 packs of each and maybe 1 or 2 NB packs. Once you've established what you like sign up for amazon mom and do subscribe and save. I get value size boxes for about $20 with free shipping.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
We have used a lot of different brands and have had no problem with any of them. We routinely use LUVs because they are significantly cheaper then Huggies or Pampers and I can usually find coupons for them. I keep a small pack of the Target brand diapers at MILs house and they work fine too.
My husband prefers the LUVs to the Target brand because they aren't as "crunchy," whatever the heck that means! Since there is only a few cents difference I go ahead and get the LUVs to avoid the issue. LOL.
I agree to try a few different kinds. When my son was a baby, we were fans of Huggies. This time, with Ella, we prefer Pampers.
I will add that I love the Swaddlers for newborns.
No Luvs are perfumey. They stink to high heaven. My mom bought a package of them when we were on vacation (probably because they are cheap) and they were so nasty smelling, it made me wish I had brought my CDs w/ us!
We use cloth most of the time, but use disposables when we travel and DD started out in disposables. Like PPs mentioned take as many diapers as you can home from the hospital. We got packages of both Huggies & Pampers from the hospital and had one package of NB diapers, and then made the switch to size one. It depends on the size of your baby though, which you can't really predict.
I like the Target brand diapers and Nature Baby care brand as well.
Once you find what works for you ditto the recc to order via Amazon using Amazon mom. Also if you shop Target keep your eyes out for diapers that go on clearance- it happens when they change the packaging, etc.
This thread just shows you how everyone has a different perspective and like different diapers for different reasons.
I've used Pampers since birth. I never had an issue with the Dri-Max or whatever it was, but every one is so different. I used Target up/up and dc leaked through them bad. I tried Huggies when dc was a few wks old and hated it.
My cousin bought me a pack of Luvs for Christmas and I actually liked them a ton. I had a huge box of Pampers so I didn't need to buy more, but if I don't have a coupon to make Pampers/Luvs comparable in price then I will buy Luv's next time.
My mom/sisters love Huggies for larger sizes (4,5,6). DC is in 4's and only 8.5mo.
My friend and a few others swear by Walmart brand.
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!

We tried Huggies with DD but her legs are too skinny and they leak on her.
We use both Luvs and Pampers BabyDry; they appear to be the exact same thing. I don't think either smell at all. At least not like the newborn swaddlers, etc-- those are nasty.
We've tried just about everything, simply b/c we were given a ton of diapers as gifts at our various showers. We will happily use Pampers Baby Dry, Huggies Little Snugglers/Little Movers, Huggies Pure & Natural, and Target's Up&Up. We've disliked Huggies Snug & Dry, Pampers Sensitives (the mesh liner in these stuck to DS's bottom and it drove DH crazy that he had to "peel" it off of the poor little guy everytime he changed a diaper, even though DS didn't seem to notice), and not particularly crazy about Parents' Choice (WalMart's brand). Luvs are just so-so. The only ones I haven't tried are any Pampers w/Dri-Max, b/c I completely swore them off when my cousin's DD got a horrendous rash from them a month before DS was born - I was just never willing to risk it, even though I've heard from plenty of people that they've never had an issue.
We're actually moving into CDing at this point - we've been mulling it over and researching it for a while now, and have finally decided to take the plunge, figuring that DS will benefit from his remaining time in diapers, and we'll start any other LOs in CDs from the beginning.
... every single day of forever.
