What guidlines do you use for printing pictures?

I have a few pictures of Charlotte taking apart her potty chair and playing instead of actually sitting on it.  They are hilarious and I would like to print them.  She has a shirt on but a few shots show her bum and I am afraid to have them printed.  Should I be?  What guidlines do I use when chosing what to print?  I also have a few of Asher and Charlotte's first bath together last night.  I will be printing these at Walgreens if that makes a difference.

Thoughts?

Re: What guidlines do you use for printing pictures?

  • I don't think I'd be concerned with an online developer. I'm not even so sure I'd be terribly concerned at a place like Walgreens if the photos are innocent enough. FWIW, one time I went to pick up an 8x10 I had printed at Walgreens. The guy at the counter handed me the envelope and said, "Your photo is the one we picked as our favorite today." This confirmed the fact that there are other people who look at personal photographs!

  • Nah, I think you're ok with those. As long as no "private parts" are showing, stores won't even bat an eye (I used to work at Walgreen's in the photo dept). If it's just a naked baby butt - then you're totally ok. Do you remember that picture of CJ and my dog overlooking the bathtub? I printed so many copies of that thing and his butt was totally exposed for the world to see and I never had one issue at Walgreen's or Meijer. Hell, I'm still trying to get that pic printed on a Hallmark card. Love me some cute chubby baby butts Wink

Here - it was this one:

  • One of my friends used to work in Kroger photo developing and he said they actually are supposed to look at every picture, but they are also trained to spot which are possible pornography vs shots like what you're describing.

I don't remember all of the rules, but I know it was no genitals, no sex acts, etc.

A lot of it is a judgement call, but unless you get someone who's just going overboard, I think you'll be okay.
  • I understand your concern. More so if you remember the Mom who was accused of pornography by the Walmart photo department for having pictures of her children's bathtime printed.

I would hope if they are mixed in with other family photos and looked innocent enough that the person behind the scenes wouldn't think twice.

FWIW I print everything at walgreens, including bum pictures, like pp they do look at your stuff, a time or two I've gone in to pick pictures up and the cashier would comment on them. Just this past weekend we had a large print made and the lady said, "that family pic turned out so good."
