I hung letters in DSs nursery but I just ordered a bunch of vinyl and I'm going to make subway boards for each of them with their names in them. I'll be waiting awhile to make LOs since we're Team Green.
Now that we moved DS over to the spare room and now has his own big boy room (his name is on the wall in there) and we left the nursery as is for bambino #2 we will put his/her name on the wall after he/she is born.
I'm not a fan of wall letters, basically because everyone else has them. We had a sign over my daughter's bed that says: Always Kiss Me Goodnight. She has a blanket that has her name, birthdate, parents, godparents, etc. on it.
I might try to make wall letters myself. We probably won't have any name up before baby arrives just in case baby isn't the sex we were expecting or we suddenly change our minds about the name. So it is something we'd add down the road.
2 years, 2 surgeries, 2 clomid fails, 2 IUIs, 1 loss, IVF #1 - 10/25/10 = BFP!, DS is now 3.5yrs!
TTC #2 - 6/12 surgery #3, FET #1 & 1.2 = BFN, 12/2012 FET #2 = BFP! DD is 1.5 yrs!
Surprise! 12/16/14 BFP, loss #2 12/31/14
I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Yes a friend of mine makes these adorable primitive style framed name signs with different fabrics and screen prints them, and they are gorgeous, can't wait to find the sex out and settle on the name so I can get one already.

I'll probably have the 3 initials. I have white letters from PBK for DD and will likely look for something similar for #2. My DDs name is 8 letters so that seemed a bit much with the cost of the letters and their size.
We won't - I *really* hate this trend. It seems to me that kids are self-centered enough without growing up with their name plastered above their bed. (I guess I should have saved this for the unpopular opinion thread on Thursday, haha).

I *really* doubt having their name in their room is what makes them self-centered. That is parenting...

No, we won't because we don't plan on settling on a final name choice until the baby is born. Our plan right now is to have our top 3 or so names, and pick once we see the baby. We can't commit to having the baby's name on something!
I think blocks on a shelf are super cute. I'm not as into the name decal/wall letters for some reason. I've seen a few prints from Etsy that incorporate the name that I love that I would consider like these:
LOVE this!! Just made a note for possible future nursery idea!
In fact, just told H I'd love to do a mini gallery of 3 frames -- this for one & one pic of newborn baby & one pic of mommy, daddy & baby!! My sis is great w/ photography & is planning on coming out around the due date so have already asked her to take some special pics for us!!

Maybe partially, but I also think kids (and people in general) are naturally self-centered. I don't want to encourage it further.
I should also say that this is not my ONLY reason ... I also just don't like the way the wall letters look. Incorporating a name in other ways isn't as bad IMO, but I still don't really care for it. The whole thing is way too trendy for my taste.
Nope, I am so over that trend. Plus I think (DH is making the final call) we are going to be team green. Our nursery will be used for this child and whenever the 2nd comes along, so we're keeping it pretty neutral.
My DD has her name on the wall over her bed. I painted them myself so they aren't very fancy. (I did gender neutral bedding etc so I was ready for #2 but accented with pink so her letters are a really bright pink )For her big girl big girl room I am going to buy some decals to put on the letters to make them go with her twin bedding. I will probably do the same with this DC. I love that DD learned to spell and recognize her name early because she saw it every day and we taught her the letters. So even if it is trendy oh well!
We're going to skip it. seems a little narcissistic to me.
maybe a blanket, or a teddy bear with the name on it would be fine. or a toy box. b/c it's "his or hers", as in it belongs to them. the whole name on the wall feels a bit like a shrine.
DH and I don't have our names over our headboard either.

No. My son doesn't have his name on the wall, and that was a good plan since now the two kids will share a room!
My son does have his name on the wall, but fortunately now that we're going to need another crib in there, we can just move his crib to the other wall under his name, and then add another!

We had my BIL paint a mural on her walls. We did an owl theme in pinks and browns and creams, and he did these beautiful cream-colored birch trees with pink leaves in the corners of her room with the branches reaching around the walls, and owls and birds on the branches. In one of the trees he "carved" her name. It's really subtle, but absolutely perfect. It fits the decor really well, and sort of blends in. You almost have to search for it to find it
I don't know what we'll do for #2. I haven't really thought too much about nursery decor, trying not to make too many decisions until we know what we're having. I don't think we'll go out of our way to put it in there, but it may find its way in.

Same for me.
Too trendy. Team Green. And the nursery will ultimately be shared by two children.

I like the idea of the 3d letters you can decorate and then hang from the wall.
Makes good wall art.

The idea of this is hilarious to me, so I had to read your comment to DH. He's like, "Can we please do that?"
I am not sure if we'll be doing this in the nursery, because DH wants to keep our baby name top secret until the baby is born. Maybe later.
