How many kids do you want to have?

I'm an only child (and I swear I'm not a monster, Biddy!) and so is DH. At this rate, we will consider ourselves beyond lucky and blessed to have one healthy take home baby. But if we could get to 2, I'd be happier. I loved being an only child, but as I get older and my parents age...I wish I had someone to relate to, share memories with and help with my parents when they need it.

I always wanted 5, but then DH had me talked down to 3. Now we have neighbors with 5 kids all within a year of each other. When I watch the magnificent chaos while they all play outside in the summer, I want 5 again

BUT like PPs mentioned, I will be happy with even one.

I'd love to have a bunch, but I don't want to have them too late in life so 3 is practical and 4 is a real stretch. If I had twins next, we'd probably call it end game.

I used to say 4, but I think financially it will wind up being closer to 2..and then maybe we will think about more a few years down the road...at this point I just want to get one and go from there...
