I had my son at Baptist East on December 3rd. He was born early, jaundiced and they had to use a suction on. Needless to say he didn't want to nurse the first few days. I was bound and determined to breastfeed. Luckily, Baptist East now offers a FREE Lactation service for any moms who delivered at the hospital. I have been twice and seen Charissa both times. She is wonderful. She has made me so much more confident. I know that without her help, I would not be breastfeeding any more. I just wanted to let everyone know about this, it has been a great tool. If you deliver at Baptist East and need help or reassurance, they offer it.
Re: Baptist East Lactation Consultant
Sorry, I haven't been back to post in a while and when I've tried the baby starts crying.
Anyway, yes, I think you had to deliver there to use it. But in the paper last week there was an article about programs to encourage breast feeding, so if you delivered at a different hospital, maybe call to see if they have a similar program.
