For those who had a MTX shot

Did it hurt? How did you feel afterwards?

My doc thinks I should have one ASAP but I am still breastfeeding. I am going for a 2nd opinion next week. In the mean time I am trying to wean my DS.

It really hurt (& burned), but it didn't work for me and I ended up having surgery & losing a tube anyways.  If it is for an ectopic I would not wait, if you must get a second opinion I would get one in the morning.  The surgery is physically & mentally devistating.

I had the mtx shot, the shot itself hurt and was actually 2 shots, one in each hip. Besides that it really wasn't too bad, I had some dry mouth but just drank a bunch of extra water (I was also bleeding pretty badly but that started before the shot would have had an effect so I think it was somewhat unrelated). Good luck and I'm sorry you have to make that call.

The shot wasn't too bad. It was split into two shots, one in each arm.  It burns for a second, but not much worse than any other shot.  The first dose didn't work though, and I needed a second dose a week later.  I did feel very lethargic and a big queasy the next day.  Part of that was the emotional toll, and part of it was the drugs making me feel icky.

I had the shot and it was one dose in the hip, it did hurt more than a normal shot. The nurse explanid that the solution is quite thick so the needle is larger, but for me it was not that bad. The injection site was a little sore the next day.

I had one shot in each butt cheek.  The shots themselves didn't hurt, but the spots I got them in were sore for a couple days.

This is for me as well....I didn't have any side effects that I noticed, except that about a week later I started fairly heavy bleeding, but that was to be expected.  I'm sorry for your loss!

It hurt the same as any other shot.  I felt exhausted and a little out of sorts for a couple days after both injections.

The shot itself did not hurt whatsoever!  Its the afterwards that was such a pain!  I was really sick.  You may want to ask your doctor for a dose of Zofran to combat any side effects.  GL!

I had it...it worked. I had it in my butt/hip area it was not too bad. I had no side effects at all.

I had it & the shot itself was no pain (stung on the 2nd shot/cheek, but hey, it's a shot).  I got the shot to end an ectopic pregnancy.  I had intense side effects/pain after the shot, but this was most likely due to the ectopic pregnancy ending & not the shot.
