i ordered it last night. i am so excited!! we bought a convertible on saturday and it was such a pain in the a$$ to install. with grad school starting, there will be three different family members picking her up from daycare this spring, and there is no way that seat is easy to move.
so, we got the new one with a base!! and my dad ordered an extra base for his truck. i just think it will be so much easier. and it converts into a booster seat too (and can also be used as an infant seat if there is ever a #2).
does anyone else have it? i know it just came out, but i'm hoping for some good reviews
Re: the new graco convertible car seat with a BASE! so excited. anyone have it?
I thought it wasn't out yet...so I'm pretty sure that nobody will have it. Babies-R-Us will let you order it, but it says it won't ship until late-February.
The concept looks very cool though.
it's $300 for the seat with one base, and $100 for an additional base. which is expensive, but we also won't have to buy a booster seat when the time comes. also, some people end up buying two seats anyway, so it would be the same.
you can pre-order them on the BRU website. the girl pattern is available already, but the boy one isn't yet (weird).
the girl print is. mine already shipped. the black one isn't available yet though... i have no idea why!
thanks for the info!

Thanks, I didn't think of that...lol.

DD is still in her infant car seat (Keyfit 30). I am hoping she holds off on reaching 30 inches until after some reviews come out on this product. We are looking at buying three car seats (my car, DH and my mom who watches DD). This would also allow DH?s mom to buy a base if she wanted. I was looking at buying a Britex for my car and we were going to go with some less expensive but safe options for the other cars, but this may be a better option
when I first saw it I was excited too, I thought this could be the "spare seat" in DH's car when he only has one of the kids with him, but then when I really looked at it, I was quite disappointed.
1) have you seen it in person? it's a very large seat and when it's RF I don't think it can fit in anything smaller than a minivan (my observation only)
2) It is huge and bulky (with no handle) so taking it in and out of the car as an infant carrier is unlikely.
2) Carseats have an expiration date of 5 years from manufacture date, so if you use it since birth you won't make it to the booster years anyway.
Sorry for the negative post
i will definitely post my review of it once it's in!! i think this will be a great car seat for a lot of people who switch vehicles a lot.. i'm excited about it
it's okay.
i have an SUV and it will fit fine (and my whole family also has SUVs)
i don't plan on using it as an infant seat and carrying her in it --- but i will have to take it out of the car at daycare in the morning and i think snaping in and out of a base will make it a lot easier than un-installing a regular seat.
are you saying they are in convertible car seats until 5 years old?! wow. i guess i thought she'd be in it until 2 or 3. not that i know. off to research that part...
I was thinking all of the above. I'm not sure why spending $400 for a carseat and a base is preferable to spending that much on 2 or 3 carseats, actually. Plus I doubt you can carry your LO in the car seat, so you'll be lugging DD, a car seat and her stuff into DCP.
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
Oh, instead of un-installing a regular seat, I would buy seats for everyone who would be driving DD around in their car.
We have a MyRide65 and a Cosco Scenera and I found them both very easy to install/uninstall.

well, i answered some of that above. but, with 3 different people picking her up, we'd need 4 different seats. that would be very expensive. i'd rather have the seat rotate around with bases, than buy all those.
ok, well, i didn't find the one we bought very easy to install/un-install. neither did my dad or dh, who will be picking her up. my dad even ordered his own base last night, so that's less money we need to spend.
anyway, i'm just excited and i think it will work great for us! i didn't say everyone needs to run out and buy one.
Check your state laws. Maryland requires that children under eight years old to ride in an appropriate child restraint,* unless the child is 4?9? or taller or weighs more than 65 pounds.
yeah, i knew that part (8 years old). i just thought she'd be big enough for a booster by age 5. i didn't realize she'll be in the convertible for 5 years? i thought PP was saying the seat will expire before she's big enough for a booster seat.
I can't wait to read your review
Here's a comprehensive review from a fellow tech. Very interesting. I think the biggest complaint so far is that it is VERY reclined and takes up a lot of space both front to back and side to side. It's not great for infants, but few convertible seats are.
I certainly get the appeal of just having a base in each car and one seat, but for $400 (seat + extra base), there are a LOT of other options out there that would allow other care givers to have their own seats in their own cars. JMO
