anyone else get a spinal headache from the epdidural? dr. told me he got a wet tap on the first attempt and i am now on day 4 of a spinal headache where I have been drinking insane amounts of caffiene. I am not sure I can handle much more of this4
i didnt have one (i actually had a c-section and had a spinal rather than an epidural) but you might want to call your doctor - i started getting bad headaches about 2 weeks pp which turned out to be tension headaches/migraines from lack of sleep but i had googled spinal headaches because my mom thought it was that... i read that they should only persist for a day or two afterwards i think and that in some cases they actually have to do a procedure at the site... you can google it - i dont remember the details. GL - hope you feel better
You know what.. I'm glad I stumbled acorss this post. I never ever get headaches! and for the past week I can't get rid of this insanely bad headache.. i've been living on excedrin. I am 6 weeks pp and I don't know if this has anything to do with it. I see my OB tomorrow for my checkup so I will def be asking her about it! Hope you feel better though
I would call your doctor. Is your headache better when you lay down and worse upon sitting/standing? Those are classic signs of a spinal headache. They can have you go in and get what is called a blood patch done. They take blood from your arm and inject it into your spine and it forms a clot at the site that is still leaking fluid (which is what is causing the headache). I think it provides relief within a few hours if it works. GL. I've heard those are pretty nasty headaches.
so i have been in touch with the dr, he is the one that told me to take caffeine pills ans to drink alot of soda he told me the headache usually does not last more then 7 days and if it does they can do a blood patch, which I know very little about except it is similar to getting the epi and they insert your blood into the spine. just wondered if anyone else had been through it.

i had exactly what you are having after i had my ITN. it was horrible! i did get the blood patch after a week of suffering and it took it away that day! the caffine did nothing for me btw. i hth. hope youre able to get some relief soon!
I also had a wet tap with my epidural also. I had a mild headache after I delivered but a neck so stiff I couldn't move it (this is another side effect). I ended up getting the blood patch about 3 hours after delivery and the headache went away within 30 minutes and the neck issue took about 9 hours to resolve. The blood patch wasn't bad at all... they prep your back like a regular epidural then withdraw blood from your arm. It wasn't painful at all.
