Yesterday my OB reminded me that the next visit will include the Glucose Test...only there were no other instructions and I'm pretty sure that that first time I was supposed to fast the morning of the test?
Definitely call your doctor's office for clarification - every doctor seems to do it differently. Did they give you the glucose drink?
I was given the drink and an instruction sheet that told me to drink the stuff 45 minutes before my appointment and to avoid sugary foods the day of the test. I wasn't told to fast at all. My appointment was at 9am, and when I called to clarify whether I could eat breakfast or not, they said, "Sure, just don't have anything too sweet. Toast or a bagel works." They didn't want me to alter my regular eating habits, as the test results could've been skewed.

Why not call and ask if your suppose to fast? I had mine early in the morning cause I knew I would have to fast. But I've also heard others say they did not have to fast so maybe it depends on the dr?
My fault because all that week I was eating Thai food which means, lots of noodles (lots of carbs). It didn't help that the night before I had a slice of chocolate cake.
I just took mine this morning. For the 1 hour you don't have to fast. It's recommended that you eat a low carb/high protein breakfast. You have to drink the glucose with in 5 minutes and an hour later you have your blood drawn. It's a good idea to take a snack to eat after you have your blood drawn.
If you fail and have to take the 3 hour, you have to fast for that test.
I just had my test this week. The instructions that were sent home with me from my previous appointment did not say to fast. I had some cereal then drank the drink they give you (not bad, tasted like orange soda) one hour before my appointment. I passed the test just fine.

Call your doctor. Every office is different. I didn't have to fast but alot of people have to. I ate a piece of toast this morning, went to my appointment, they gave me the drink there and I waited an hour and then had my blood drawn. My appointment was originally supposed to be at 2:00 and when I talked to the nurse yesterday she said it was fine to eat a regular lunch, but nothing too sugary. So call your doctor to see what their policy is.
Re: Prepping for Glucose Test?
Hi!
I didnt have to fast for my 1 hour glucose screening but I did fast for my 3hr glucose tolerance test. Please call your doctor's office to verify.
My instructions says:
Do not eat or drink anything (except water), three hours prior to your appointment.

This is exactly what I was told.
I failed mine yesterday
