Cloth Diapering

Ecover?

Can someone tell me how to use Ecover? Are there certain diapers you can't use it with? When in the cycle do you put it in, etc? We just went to whole foods and picked some up. I want to use it with my KL0s, but don't know if I have to separate them.

Thanks!

Re: Ecover?

  • You can't use it on anything with PUL so you'd need to separate covers, pockets, etc. You can use it a couple ways:

1- Do a soak with your fitteds and a capful or two of Ecover, then wash and dry as usual. - This is great for if they're really crunchy and need to be rescued. I've done this with a few used GMs I've bought and it really brought them back to life.

2- Add a capful or two of Ecover to your rinse cycle. When I do this I use a Downy ball and put it in there. You can either wash your fitteds separately, or you can pull out the PUL after everything is clean and do a rinse cycle or short wash cycle with just the fitteds and your Ecover.

  • To soften my kissaluvs I filled up my washer with warm water and about 4 capfuls of ecover. I let them soak for a few hours and then washed them and put more ecover in a downey ball.

  • The fuzzibunz website says that ecover has been deemed successful at cleaning cloth diapers. Is this inaccurate? I've been using ecover for my cloth diapers for the past couple of weeks-Should I be switching to something else? I use Happy Heiny's, fuzzibunz, bumgenius, and bummis.

  • I wash normally, remove the PUL then run an extra rinse with the Ecover in the fabric softener dispenser. It is some amazing stuff.

The OP and PPs are talking about Ecover fabric softener. Ecover has different products including detergent, so if the fuzzibunz websites suggest that detergent on it's products then you are okay in using it in your wash.

Fabric softener on the other hand is not recommended for cloth diapers.. except Ecover (that I know of). It cannot be used on PUL/pockets. It's typically used to soften fitteds and prefolds. Hope this helps!

Thanks. After posting, I went to their website and realized that. Guess I should have done that in the first place-oops.
