So, back before DD arrived DH become obsessed with having everything in the same pattern. Needless to say everything from the stroller to the swing to the car seat was in the graco deco pattern. At this point we weren't very wise and bought what we thought were two convertible car seats in the graco deco pattern and stuck them in the basement to be used later. Of course, when the time came and I went to pull them out I realized they were forward facing only and I wasn't ready to turn DD around. We have now went out and are using convertible car seats and have no use for the other car seats. Unfortunately, I don't think Babies R Us will take them back as they were bought so long ago. My questions is would you try Babies R Us anyway or would you try something like Craigslist to unload them?
Re: Need your opinion
I would try BRU- if you have gift slips or receipts.
I guess you could put them on CL, but I honestly don't know many people who put their kids in seats that only FF.
My experience with BRU and returning stuff (that was on my registry) was not good.
Like Daisy said, I would try CL, or even a consignment shop, esp. if they are still in the box with all the paperwork and card to register them.
It has also been my experience that BRU is a PITA for returns.
My DH is also obsessed with everything in the same pattern. It annoys me to no end!
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!
My favorite money saving tip: I've earned more than $300 in gift cards (Amazon, Starbucks, Southwest!) using SwagBucks for internet searching - and you can too! It's FREE and EASY!
I would say BRU wouldn't return bc they've lost shelf life (exp date).
I'd try CL but think you'll take a large hit on them due to exp date/shelf life and people buying "used" (although new) car seats.
kelley- I totally agree with you, but think that most people don't think about shelf life of carseats. A mom in our parents group sent out an e-mail selling a britax marathon for $70- I asked her about the manufacture date, and she told when it was purchased (not the same) and she said she would "look on the tag." She ended up selling it to someone who obviously didn't ask this question, but I have also posted on here that getting a convertible seat for a shower gift really isn't the greatest idea, since some seats go to 65+ lbs now and if you want to use a seat for a second child it could expire before you are done using it and no one really got the concept.
