Irritated

Hey all,

I am pretty irritated.

I have pretty severe symphasis pubis dysfunction.  I was diagnosed with this around 20 weeks.  For those of you who don't know, it is severely painful to walk, sit, lay down, move, get out of the car, basically it hurts to live.  I am getting very frustrated with my practice.  One of the midwives said I could be induced at 39 weeks because of the SPD and so I got pretty excited about that when at 38 weeks this got REALLY unbearable.  They put in for the induction at the hospital and it was rejected.  Part of the reason I am so frustrated [besides that] is due to the fact that 3 weeks ago I was supposedly 1.5 cm and 30% effaced.  Now, apparently I am 0cm and 30% effaced.

I am just sick of them not taking my pain seriously.  Also, the one midwife my partner and I hate intercepted our appointment because she wanted to see me.  It was so uncool!

I don't know how my body went backwards, but I have had it and I am very unhappy with all of this.  For our next baby, I am going to find an OB who knows about SPD and actually cares about the mothers pain, too.

Re: Irritated

  • That sounds very frustrating. Is there not a doctor in the practice you can speak with about all of this? Or are there only midwives? Or maybe there is one particular midwife you can talk to?

  • I'm sorry. That's really frustrating when you feel like you're not being taken seriously.

I don't have any advice, but I hope your baby decides to make an appearance soon so you can finally have some relief. Good luck.

  • I'm so sorry to hear that.  That must make you feel pretty helpless...sometimes I wonder about medical professionals.  I don't have any advice either, but thought I'd offer empathy anyway.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that LO gets here soon so mama can be out of pain.

    Hang in there!!

  • Thanks, ladies.  I can't wait for this little guy to just make his way out!

I talked with the doctor of the practice and oddly enough he told me to keep checking with the midwives.  But he was concerned with my baby being too big to be able to come out and ordered an ultrasound.  Which also bothered because how come the midwives didn't say that?  And if we were looking at a CSection this could have happened a week ago and I could have been almost healed by now!  Oh man...these people!
