Is the hot tub thing true or just a TTC myth?

First off, I can't believe I'm asking this. 

Is it really bad for a man to be in a hot tub while TTC?  The reason I ask is that we have a hot tub.  My DH loves hot tubbing.  He goes in our hot tub almost every night in the cold winter months. 

We have just started TTC again and I keep telling him that he shouldn't be in our hot tub while we're trying because it's going to wreck his sperm.  lol.  He tells me I'm being crazy and that's just a myth.

Anyone know the real answer behind this?  I've searched Dr. Google and have got mixed answers.

I *think* it is true. Same reasoning as the laptop killing sperm thing. Too much heat down there can't be good, right?

I have always heard no hot baths and no tight underwear.  The testicles need to stay cooler than 98.6, which is why they dangle and aren't simply inside the man, like our ovaries.

I could be totally wrong, but if you are TTC, it can't hurt for him to steer away from hot tubs for a couple days around ovulation. My guess is that it will matter more if your DH has a low sperm count, or you have any fertility issues.

Like pp said, it has to do with getting too hot. It can't hurt to steer clear of the hot tub. Sorry to your hubs! But congrats on TTC #2!

Thanks for the responses.  That is my thought too.  I don't think he should be sitting in water over 99 degrees and our hot tub is set at 104 right now.

I told him to keep out of there for the next week and a bit or limit his use for the next week or so. 

We'll see I guess.  lol.

it is true, not a myth.  i have read practically everything out there about TTC.  the heat kills the sperm, and just avoiding the hot tub for a week isn't going to help.  he needs to stay out of the hot tub for the season!!
