Where can I find gentian violet?

Been battling thrush for a few months and want to give it a try.  Bonus if it's in North Seattle/Shoreline!

I have tried:  Super Supplements, Walgreens, Safeway, and Bartell's with no luck.

Whole Foods had it about a year ago - you can always call before driving there.  I can't imagine how awful it would be to have thrush for so long.  I'm impressed that you've stuck with BFing through it!

Thanks, guys.  The pain has been off and on, but really bad lately.  I tried the Lotrimin cream which seemed to work for awhile, but then it stopped working.  I am on the hunt for Motherlove ointment too which I think they have at Whole Foods.  I may be making a trip there this weekend.

If it's not on the shelf, ask the pharmacist if they have it.  Sometimes they keep it behind the counter, even though you don't need a prescription for it.

I got it at the boutique at Providence Everett Pavilion. They have a lot of breastfeeding stuff there. Whichever hospital is closest to you (Northwest?) might have it.

I've had pretty good luck with All Purpose Nipple Ointment (though, you need a prescription and a compounding pharmacy).

If you find out that Providence has gentian violet, I could pick it up for you.

We got ours at Bartells too!  I think most, if not all Bartells carry it, you could call ahead to make sure though!     Gentian violet works, but is messy!  Be prepared for purple boobies, and purple baby!

Love that picture of Holden! Putting Vaseline around baby's mouth will help contain the purple somewhat.

Finally got Maple Leaf Pharmacy to order some that will be in Monday.  Other places that do not have it include:  Whole Foods, Katterman's, Pharmaca, Central Market, Evergreen Boutique, and Bartell's at Roosevelt.  Sounds like Bartell's does not carry it anymore at any of their stores.  They told me to try Walgreen's!
