    Is this a joke?  Zadok?
It is a real name. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zadok

Regardless, it's still a terrible name.

I agree. I hardly think that a Wikipedia article can be used as justification for naming you child something that's way out there.

    I vote for the option:

These are poor choices for names that you're only considering because you wanted to be "different" with a Z theme for you children's names.

P.S.  You can't get offended because the rules of the bump are that if you ask for opinions, you have to accept them whatever they are.

BTW: I am not offended. This is entertaining.

    Zoolander.

Ha, that's actually the first thing I thought of as well.

OP - I get that you think you are being terribly cute and clever giving your children theme names, but there are male "Z" names that aren't this strange.

Please remember you are naming a human being that will one day have to send out resumes and job applications. "Unique" names - and I am being generous here - are a lot less precious on a 30 year-old-man, kwim?

I'm sorry but I also dislike all of these options.  I am not a fan of matchy names and also not a fan of names that sound so contrived.  These children have to live with these names their entire lives, including being adults in adult settings for the majority of the time.

To be fair, I also really dislike all of the "ayden/aiden/aidan" names - Jayden, Brayden, Cayden, etc.  I liked Aiden when it first got popular but every other iteration of it sounds like someone just went through the alphabet and tried to be unique.  It's silly and unfortunate.

I do really like Zeke and Zane.

I know a Zayden; she is an adorable, precocious 10 year old who fits the unique name perfectly. "Zyler" is just....wrong. And Zodak makes me think of the Zodiak Killer.

I disagree. Zayden is pretty cute =)

I also know a guy named Zeb, just putting that out there.

Zayden's still the least 'offensive' but still don't like any of those. Zeke, Zack, Zeb, Zander, Zavier, all preferable.

My husband plays massive multiplayer games and always names all his characters names that start with "Q". We joked about naming the baby a "Q" name, but we never would have actually done it.

I don't like any of them... I think people are going to have issues trying to figure out how to say them and/or spell them which may make school life hell for the child...

Although I am not really a fan of any of them, when pressed, I would choose Zayden. I did also look through the babycenter's z names for boys (not all of them) and I kind of liked Zayvion or Zane.

I also can't fault anyone for having a pattern. My BF and I have an initial pattern. He is NMM, when we get married, I will be KMM so our selected names have M middle names.

    DH suggests Darth Zader.

I like Zane and Zander (although I like the Greek spelling with an X rather than the Slavic with a Z, personally).  And Zachary/Zachariah is a nice option, too.

When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

they're all terrible, as was your earlier post of "zabram."  please think about your baby as a grown up who will have to find a job and be taken seriously with whatever name you give him.

If my kid HAD to have a Z name, it would probably be Zion.

BUT those names are not so great, sorry.

I did like the suggestions of Zoloft and Zoolander though. You could call him Zoo for short. Smile

What about Zap, Zombie, or Zoltron? lol..........................

Zayden is the only one that doesn't sound too far out there. What about Zeric (Derrick w/ a 'z') or Zante (Zon-tay)? I know 2 guys with those names....Thought I'd be a little helpful vs. saying that ur choices are the worse ever Smile

We know a family who named their boy Zephyr. I hated it at first (especially since I knew a dog  with this name) but it has grown on me immensely. Not only is he the sweetest kid, but it totally suits him. They call him Zeph (Zeff) for short.

    On a serious note...

Zyler - made up, trying to tack a Z onto Tyler

Zayden - another notch in the belt of the Aidan/Caden/Brayden trend. It needs to die a quick death.

Zadok - a legit, Hebrew name with a cool meaning. I don't personally love it, but I'd still vote for it because it's the only legit name in the threee.

Here's a link to some more legit, Z names for boys. GL!
