Any suggestions for an alternative to the gDiaper insert (to use in gDiapers)?
Are they trim and absorbent?
I bought some gDiapers awhile back to use on LO but still haven't used them because I hadn't bought the inserts yet. After reviewing the inserts online, it seems that there might be some cheaper options available. I figured I should explore those before spending the money on the $$ inserts.
LO mainly wears Pampers Sensitives or Huggies Pure and Natural, but I'm a SAHM and would love to try CDing.
Any other tips?
Re: Alternative to gDiapers cloth inserts?
I'm assuming you're talking about the cloth inserts as opposed to the biodegradable inserts?
This website sells alternative inserts that aren't any cheaper but are supposed to be better:

Also, here's a tutorial if you'd like to make your own inserts, which would save you some money.

Or if you have some prefolds you can experiment with those, too. Free and Clear detergents are not supposed to be good for cloth diapers. Jillian's Drawers reccomends either Tide Original Powder, Allen's Naturally, or Charlie's Soap Powder.
Good luck!
We use prefolds from greenmountaindiapers.com in our gdiapers. We buy the flushable inserts for vacations, but use the covers regularly at home w/ prefolds.
Your detergent should be fine. We use Tide Free & Clear because it's the only HE free & clear we can find in our area.
