If you remember my earlier posts I am pretty anti-induction. I had my Dr. appt today thinking they would let me go to 42 weeks but was told that your fluid levels start to drop at 41 and there is a higher chance of meconium aspiration. The Dr. REALLY didn't want me to go past 41 weeks so I am scheduled for Friday, I'll be 41 weeks. I've been crying about it all morning. Of course I want what is best for the baby but I am so afraid of an induction leading to a csection.

Re: induction scheduled....I cried
I'm sorry
I understand your concerns, but not all inductions lead to sections ... mine was perfectly normal and without complication. GL to you!

I'm so sorry... I've been reading induction articles on the ACOG and I know my doc is going to make me induce at 41 weeks also. I have the same fears, and I dread an induction.
I also have several friends who have had successful inductions, one of whom was able to handle the pitocin contractions with no pain meds. Hang in there. Sending you labor vibes!
If you really don't want it, there may be a few loopholes:
1) How confident are you that your EDD is accurate? Even the early ultrasounds have a 3 to 5 day error rate. If you have good reason to believe your EDD is off (i.e., charting), your doc may listen to you.
2) Maybe you have some kind of scheduling conflict for Friday that requires pushing the induction til Monday. Just sayin.
3) If low fluid is the doc's main issue, maybe a biophysical profile would give some comfort. They can easily measure fluid levels with an ultrasound.
4) I'm no expert, but I've always heard that pitocin-induced contractions are more stressful for baby, and that meconium staining/aspiration can be a result of a high-stress delivery. I wonder what the doctor's thoughts would be on that?
Will they agree to do NSTs or look at your fluid on u/s instead?
I know that you'll get through it, but I can certainly understand the emotion.

I was induced at 41 weeks with my daughter due to my husband having to be at work the following week. (works for UPS it was almost Thanksgiving when I had her...) We were VERY confident in our conception dates so my doctors were comfortable with induction. I was "ok" with it, but not all that thrilled. I was terrified of c-section. I was induced on Thursday morning and had her Saturday night vaginally.
They stopped meds for a chunk of time each night so that I could eat, rest, shower, and sleep a bit. I'm SO glad my doctors didn't rush me and didn't try to push things faster than they did, otherwise I would have ended up with a csection.
I would definitely talk with them about their standard procedures about how long they let you go, when they do what medicines, etc. For me on Thursday they only did the cervix medicine. Friday they started the pitocin. Saturday they maxed out the pitocin and I got the epidural. If they had maxed out the pitocin on me too soon it might have rushed me along and ended in a csection. My docs said there is a small percent of inductions that take a few days and they were ok with that. I hope your doctors are the same!! GL!!
oh boo! I know that sucks.... but like other PP said Maybe you will go on your own b4 you get induced.... I was scheduled for monday and went on my own at 3 am mon morning.
But if you do end up having to go through with it.... I am sure it will be an easy induction since its your second baby. My SIL was induced with her second and all they ended up having to do was put that cervadel (sp?) on her cervix and she ended up doing the rest on her own.... but best wishes!! and thoughts and prayers your way.
Sorry mama ;-(
Of course you don't have to show up for your induction ;-) Personally, I'd demand an NST and fluid level check first before going to an induction - if those show everything is fine, there's no danger in waiting another week.
Good luck!

Aw, ::hugs::
You never know what will happen between now and then. And many inductions have happy endings. GL!
This!
Mine both went just fine!
Oh I'm sorry that sucks.... I feel the same way you do and had to fight an induction with DS through nst and ultrasounds etc... They let me go so far and scheduled one, the good news is though I think I was so upset about it my water broke that night and he came on his own.
Sending you lots of prayers and hopes that the LO comes tonight or tomorrow happy and healthy!!
