Hospital Stay after C-Section for Twins

I forgot to ask my Dr. at my last appointment.  When I had my c-section last year (one baby) I was home in 48 hours.  This time I'm expecting twins. Those of you who had C-sections with twins, how long was your hospital stay?

Re: Hospital Stay after C-Section for Twins

  • i had my c-section on tuesday morning and was discharged on saturday. i delivered due to pre-eclampsia, so they may have kept me a little longer because of my blood pressure. or maybe four days is normal? dunno.

  • Babies were born on Saturday, released on Tuesday. 4 days is normal at my hospital with a single or twin pregnancy.

  • I delivered a little before 1am on Thursday and was discharged on Sunday around noon.

  • I had my c-section around 7am on a Friday morning and was supposed to be discharged on Monday but I asked to stay until Tuesday evening and they let me b/c I had babies in the NICU.

  • My hospital's policy is 2 days for vaginal and 4 days for c-section. However, if you have babies in the NICU, they might let you stay an extra day

  • I stayed 4 days with both my c-sections. By choice with the twins, I could have gone home after 3 days, but was enjoying the extra help. My doctor didn't give me a choice with my singleton because I'd been on hospital bedrest for 6 weeks. I would have chosen to stay 4 days anyway, just because I have 2 rambunctious 3 year olds.
  • Babies born Friday evening, discharged Tuesday morning.  I think 4 days is the norm.
  • I had my c-sec on Monday Morning and was sent home on Thursday afternoon.  According to my doctor, that was normal time frame.  But I guess each doctor could be different.

  • I delivered early Tues. morning, left on Friday morning.   I had the option of staying until Saturday but we were ready to go home.  I was doing well enough to leave Thursday but my doctor wasn't going to let me go that early.  Like the pp said, it depends on you, not the amount of babies.
  • I stayed 4 days. They would have let me go home after 3 days, but the babies were still in the NICU and they offered me a choice, so I stayed.
  • The hospital where I am delivering keeps all c-section moms for at least 4 days.
  • I had the boys on Friday afternoon and went home Monday afternoon.  My doctor gave me the option to stay another day, but I chose to go home.  I think it depend on your insurance and hospital policy.
  • I had my twins on Monday and was out on Friday morning.
  • I delivered on Friday night at 5:15 and could have left on Monday afternoon.  Because one of mine was still in the NICU and my insurance would pay for it, I stayed an extra day.
  • I went into the hospital on Friday morning for an induction and ended up with a c-section at 11:03 that night.  I was discharged on the following Tuesday.  I had the choice to come home either Monday or Tuesday but stayed the extra night so my Dh and I could get 1 more night of sleep.
  • I delivered on a Wednesday afternoon and went home Sunday morning.  I could have gone home Saturday, but had the option to stay the extra day and I took it.  Although I was crawling the walls, I did feel like I needed the extra day to recuperate.

  • Gees, I had mine on a Thursday morning and was rushed out Saturday afternoon, even though my insurance covered 96 hours for c-sect.  I didn't really care, though.  I felt pretty good, just very tired.
  • I was there 6 days but had an emergent C and lost 2700 ccs of blood.
  • c-section was Friday night and I was discharged Tuesday morning. ?Thank goodness I didn't have any complications b/c i was starting to go stir crazy!
