I will probably get them and just not have them massage my feet. I think the reason they say no to pedicures is because there is a pressure point in your foot that is could start labor or something like that.
ETA: Found a better answer. The pressure points located in your ankles are connected to your reproductive organs and there is one that is located in the foot that is connected to your uterus. If these pressure points are massaged apparently it can trigger contractions and sometimes pre-term labor. Pedicures in Pregnancy

Yay...assuming it's in a well ventilated area and you don't have any open cuts on your feet.
There's the idea that if you massage a certain section on the back of your ankle/heel (and massage it hard) that it could cause ute contractions. The jury is still out on how effective this is (just talk to any woman who is past due). But, I've never had a pedi where they massage the back of my ankle/heel.

This exactly.
I'm all for the pedicures, but nay on the massage (which is usually my favorite part but not worth the potential risk IMHO).
I'm not bothering with them at this time of year, but in the spring I'll get a couple I think. I'll have them use the Zoya nail polish (which is formeldahyde and toluene free), and no massage on the ankles. Good ventilation as PP said is also a must.

Yay. A LOT of pressure needs to be applied to pressure points to activate them. Like, painful amounts of pressure. Pedicurists do not apply enough pressure to cause problems. Pressure point massage is not fun nor relaxing.
I believe it's time for me to get a pedicure. My feet are not only beginning to look like hooves, but I could have sworn I heard a "clip-clopping" sound when I walked across the tile floor the other day.

I JUST asked my doctor about this today. lol She said that it's completely fine to have it done. Along with getting hilights put in my hair, getting my man beard waxed and *gasp* having that nice toast of bubbly for NYE. I love my new OB. bahaha
i'm getting one tomorrow and cannot wait. I just tell them to not go so hard on the massage, and don't massage ankle area at all. other than that, it's heavenly.
if smells are bothering you, make sure you go to nice/ventilated place.

I was really paranoid about it, but the hobbit feet were just too much so I broke down and got one last week.
The place is super clean, I've been there before, and I talked at length w/ the lady doing the pedicure about not pressing on the soles of my feet at all. She was great, and very understanding.
I'm glad I did it. And I love my "Midnight Cami" toes
I will be getting one. I will just tell them no pressure when they rub my ankles/calfs. I've always been told to let them know you are pg and they should avoid the pressure points.

This. I had one last week and I just told her to go easy on the massage. Also, make sure that water isn't too hot and the place is well ventilated as others said. I had a reflexology massage once where they actually did pressure point massage and it was painful! Not at all like a pedicure massage.
