Recommend your sippy cup

At Evan's 9 month appointment his doctor suggested that we start introducing sippy cups and try to have him only take a bottle for the first and last feeding of the day by his first birthday. My MIL gave us some Nuby cups. Right now I just put water in it and he likes to chew on the soft tip or shake it and then fling it across the room.  ;-)  I was looking at the wall-o-sippy cups at Babies R Us and got confused because there are so many kinds - sippy cups, trainer cups, cups with straws, and the list goes on.

Just thought I'd poll y'all to see what worked best for your kids.

Re: Recommend your sippy cup

  • Starting out, Cameron did best with the Born Free Trainer Cup (but it took some time of just chewing at the spout, etc.).  Then we moved into hard-spout cups, and now straw cups.

  • Because C is teething, he only wants to chew on the soft spout ones so we've had more luck drinking with the hard spout like these.

  • We bought the Munchkin soft spout kind.  Cooper will just chew on the hard spout ones and not actually suck on them.
  • He does best with the Playtex ones that have a sort of soft spout with handles.  He's starting to drink from pretty much any kind of sippy cup or straw cup though.

  • We used the munchkin ones first - since the spout was soft, so it seemed DS knew more what to do with it than the hard ones (since it was more similar to a nipple).  After about 6-8 months of using those, he has chewed on the spout, which ruins the no leak part of it, so we switched him over to just to Take and Toss version.
