I have croup question

Friday M woke up with croup.  Took her in...gave her a nebulizer treatment and a shot of steroids.  They sent us home with a script for predisone.

The bark  & wheezing is gone but now her cough is very deep and very wet sounding.  Would you call the pedi tomorrow if she still has it?  Or should I wait until she's done with the predisone (tues)?

    Are you still doing treatments? If not I would do every four hours today. And then take her in tomorrow for a re check. We deal with this a lot here, unfortunately. Do you have her on a preventative like pulmicort? Both my kids are on it now for the winter.

    we dont have a nebulizer and they didnt send us home with one....just a script for liquid predisone...1 teaspoon once a day for 5 days.  She's not wheezing or barking....just a very wet sounding cough.

    When DS had croup, it always turned into an extremely congested cough that wouldn't taper off for about two weeks. We didn't do nebulizers for croup, although he did get a few doses of steroids plus antibiotics. He was younger, then, though -- his last bout of croup was when he was about 2.5 (knock on wood).

    Good luck! Croup sucks. Sad
