I still haven't told anyone but immediate family  A co-worker came up to me and asked if I had any news for him all while staring at my belly.  There were about 4-5 other teachers at the hall along with a million students.  He made a big production but then said he'd keep it a secret even though a few teachers came up to me to congratulate me and the rest stood and looked on awkwardly. 

DH said I can't keep it a secret forever, and so I guess I'll have to start spreading the news to my friends before they hear it from other sources.

That stinks...but your DH is right, you'll have to tell at some point.  Start sharing the news and enjoy the moment!

We were able to keep our first pregnancy a secrect for a while. Manily because we'd only been together 5 months and were scared to tell people. This time we were excited so told our families at 9 weeks. Well I learned the hard way. Once one person knows you better tell those that you really want to tell yourself. MIL decided to tell her hairdresser I was pregnant. MIL started going to this hairdresser after our wedding...which is also my hairdresser...which is also a good friend and fellow hairdresser of one of my best friends. So the next day the hairdresser says to BFF when were you giong to tell me she's pregnant. Needless to say I got a text message minutes later that just said, "Your MIL has a big mouth" I felt awful that she didn't hear it from me.

A similar thing happened to me. Thankfully, it was the week we were planning on sharing news anyway, but a coworker pointed at my belly and said "is there something to tell??" I gave her a look that basically said yes, and she turned and told 3 other coworkers. Again, we were sharing that week anyway, but how rude!

I'm sorry your coworker was so rude! What if you hadn't been pregnant? Don't reasonable adults know that's not something you ask a woman?

Like you said, though, you would have told eventually. Hopefully the other people you work with will be nice and congratulate you in a less awkward situation.

Seriously...what if you weren't pregnant?!?  Even if a woman is about to pop, I NEVER assume anything.  You should have just looked at him and said "what, you think I'm getting fat??"

Sorry you were outed...like your DH said, it would have happened soon anyway!

OMG! DH and I just laughed ourselves to tears over this expression! I'm going to refer to every jerk I know as an a$$hat from now on

DH and I decided we were going to tell on Christmas day, and we're sticking to that.

I have flat out lied to every single person who has asked me that at work. The only person who knows is our HR person, and my immediate supervisor because I needed extra breaks with the m/s.

The whole situation is terrible, but I CANNOT believe that he would say it around the kids.  Yes, some kids are oblivious, but others pick up on that fast.  What if you didn't want to tell the kids for a while??  I'm so sorry!

wow that was rude. sorry you got outed!  funny stories is my friends were the very first i told as soon as i found out, but the other day at one of our shows one of my friends mother told her "wow, carmen sure has put on some weight" i was near by and overheard and was happy that my friend said "nope, its that damn white jacket!" I her and have hidden that jacket away
