Somehow I got this stupid reputation for making pretty baskets at work. That in turn gets me the lovely assignment of making up gift baskets. This year they want wine and beer gift baskets made up.
I drink very little wine and have no clue what snackies to pair with different wines. I know some of you lovelies are much more sophisticated than I am. So give me some ideas, pretty please. Oh, and unless kraft singles work as a cheese with wine, that is out since these will have to be shelf stable instead of refrigerated.

Re: Wine/snack pairing help
My favorite PMS combo - chocolate and wine.
Hmmm.... trying to think of others
ETA: Nuts and dried fruits
Breads or crackers
Salami
Olives

I was going to say chocolate too. Also pasta/sauce and fruit (even dried fruits).
But if you go to your local liquor store and ask the people that work there, they should be able to give you suggestions on what kinds of food go with different wines. At least, they are helpful like that in my area.
Mmmmm this!!! I miss a nice glass of wine, as soon as all of this is over that will be the first thing I induldge in!!

The hard part is our store is so small we carry very few fancy type things. I'm just not thinking sardines and wine works so well LOL! I may lean more on the beer end as it will probably sell better.
