Which prenatal do you take?

I know this is probably asked all the time, but please humor me :)  I discovered that my prenatals were making me even sicker (Walgreens brand) - on top of my alreay horrendous m/s.  I've tried the two samples from the dr's office and they also made me feel pukier.  So my dr said that I could take flintstones if I take the prenatals once a week.  I tried that last week and took the prenatal Sat night, yesterday I was out of commission for the whole day :(

Has anyone else had the same problem and actually found a prenatal that didn't make you sick?  I would prefer to find a good one instead of the flintstones.  tia!!

  • I have been taking the Trader Joe's prenatal for quite a while and never had problems.  Hope you find one that works well for you.

  • I use a script prenatal, and I LOVE them! They are called Citranatal Harmony capsules, and they have DHA, all the Iron and Folic Acid I need, as well as a gentle stool softener that has helped to prevent me getting constipated (yet)! The best part? They smell and taste like vanilla cupcakes.
  • I have used the Publix brand and Target brand.  Had no problems with either.

  • I've been taking the Target brand and haven't had any issues.  Before getting pregnant, I was taking gummi multi vitamins with extra folic acid pills on the side.  The folic acid pills are tiny, so maybe that would be an option for you if you can't find a PNV you can tolerate.  Good luck!

  • I've never had any problems with mine (prescription Meijer prenatals) but my cousin who is pregnant said she couldn't keep hers down so she switched to the GNC brand ones, which are odorless and flavorless.

  • I've been taking the gummy vitamins with an iron pill! I was getting sick and that what the doctor recommended. She said we can try something more "adult" at the next visit

  • My prenatal was making me sick as well, so my midwife said to take 2 flinstones a day and a separate DHA supplement.  It has helped a lot.

Do you take them all at the same time?

  • I used to take the target brand box with two bottles, one a regular prenatal and one with the DHA.

Right now I'm taking gummies from Target with an iron supplement but I like the ones I used to take better.  Next time I get to Target I'll pick up a new box.

Never had a problem with either of them though, I just prefer the pills to the gummies - I feel like I was getting more vitamin support subconsciously.

Most days I take 1 Flinstone and my DHA in the morning (with food), and one Flintstone in the evening.  Sometimes I do take them together.

  • I started using Target brand the week I found out I was pregnant. As long as I take them on a full tummy, I havent had any problems getting sick. As for the samples from the doc...those made me really sick, full stomach or not!

This is me too.  It's the only vitamin ever that hasn't made me feel sick.  I take a fish oil/DHA supplement with it too.

I like this one a lot.  It also has a stool softener in it and has improved constipation issues a lot for me.

  • I have been using 365 prenatals from Whole Foods. I take them at bedtime with a separate DHA capsule and have had no problems.
  • I take the generic form of Prenate DHA. It's a prescription prenatal vitamin and I only went with an RX vitamin because my insurance pays for it if I get it via mail order pharmacy. I started taking it back in May, before we started TTC, and it's never made me ill. I take it after dinner.

  • Neevo DHA - one pill does all - and although it's large, it's easy on my system and, allegedly, the same PNV often prescribed for women with high-risks pregnancies (which I'm not), so it has to be good :)  I highly recommend!
