We both finally agreed we like the name Vanessa Marie. It sounds really nice with our last name and Marie is a family name. I also like the "meaning" behind Vanessa. Then I read that someone said it was popular in the 80's. Does it remind you of the 80's?
Re: Vanessa?
The two people I know named Vanessa are under 23 (one is a twin, of Vanessa and Victoria) one is my 17 year old SIL. I don't think it was ever all that trendy or popular so I don't think it really attaches to a decade too much.
I like it a lot!
It doesn't remind me of the 80s.
I like it!
Vanessa does remind me of the 80's - examples: Vanessa Huxtable from the Cosby Show and Vanessa Williams who was Miss America in the early 80's then went on to singing/acting career
But there's also celebs like the Disney star Vanessa Hudgens. So while the name has a retro vibe, I don't think it's stuck in the 80's like Tiffany and Stephanie
The only association I have with Vanessa is the Crosby Show. But thats not a bad thing.

Vanessa does not bring to mind the 80's for me. It is a beautiful name that is not overused.
Vanessa is a pretty name, and I don't think that it is only an 80's name. I especially love the nicknames Nessa and Nessie.
I've always liked this name, and I don't really associate it with the 80s. To be honest, it's kind of an 80s name, but as someone said earlier, definitely not stuck there!

To me it's kind of dated, but in nowhere near as dated as Jessica, Ashley, Amanda, etc.
It's not really my taste, but I think it's a nice name and worth reviving. Vanessa Marie has a nice flow.
