Cloth Diapering

Stripping

How do you strip your diapers? I have BGs 4.0s and all of a sudden my daughter is getting a wicked rash.   I called the company and the lady told me to use dawn dish soap and do like 3 extra rinse cycles.  I did that...she was fine for a few days and then I just washed normally and the rash came back.  Its only on her legs around the diaper and right on top but it looks painful.  Doesn't seem to bother her...so at the moment she is in disposables because I feel terrible I am doing something wrong and causing this.  So how do you strip your diapers? Vinegar? Baking soda...I feel like everything I read tells me to do it one way and then I read something else that says not to do it that way.  I'm so confused.  Thanks for any help.

Re: Stripping

  • I've used vinegar to help with ammonia issues. Melissa from Clean B sent me a ammonia routine and a washing routine... I used 1-2 cups for a FL HE machine, added a sopping wet towel, waited until everything else was soaked from the machine itself (let it agitate a bit) then let it sit for half an hour. Then I let it agitate again for 5 or so minutes, then sit for half an hour again before finishing the cycle with an extra rinse and an extra wash.

And Bac-Out has helped as well. And tons and tons of rinses.
