Plus size maternity clothes?

None of my friends or family members that have recently been pregnant have had the issue of being overweight so I don't know who to ask.  Where can I go to buy maternity clothes in plus sizes?  I have looked online and found some, but I am the type of person who needs to go to a store and try before I buy.  Where have you bought your plus size maternity clothes?  Thanks!

Re: Plus size maternity clothes?

  • I went to Destination Maternity (combo store of Pea in a Pod and Motherhood) and they had one rounder of plus-sized items in the Motherhood section.  I wasn't looking at Pea in a Pod, but I would imagine they might have some too.  Old Navy online has some pieces too, but I haven't seen any in-store.

    Good luck!

  • My sister recommended JC Penney's Duo brand. There's also a Motherhood outlet close by and I've heard that their plus section is fairly good. I haven't purchased anything yet, but I plan on looking for empire shirts/dresses in the regular plus section in addition to the maternity section when the time comes. I'm not expecting to actually look pregnant until 20 or so weeks so I've got time. Good luck!

  • Motherhood has plus sizes, I didn't seen any in the store near me, but it is tiny. I know they have a lot available online.
  • Try Old Navy. The have a Plus Size maternity section online. You may have to order them, try the items on at home and then return to the store if they don't work. But they have a great selection and relatively reasonable prices.

I went to Old Navy today and their pants did not fit right. They were too small in the legs and huge in the hips and waist. I recommend seeing if there is a store near by that has at least a small selection of maternity so you can check the fit.

  • I'm in a position where Misses are too tight and Plus sizes are too big.  It's impossible for me to find the right pair of jeans as all of them are bootcut and HUG the knee area.  I am a huge fan of trouser and wide leg jeans.  I did find those at Burlington Coat Factory and they ran big so I fit in a large.  However XL at Motherhood just doesn't fit.  I can forget about Old Navy as their jeans do not fit me right either.  Thank goodness its a June baby and beginning in March I can wear dresses/shorts/capris here in TX.

Thats weird, I am an XL in both Burlington and Motherhood and they fit exactly the same.  I guess thats all the more reason to make sure wherever you buy allows returns!
