Has anyone had an experience with their kids/SKs whereas they addressed a letter to "Mommy" or "Daddy" (included last name) along with the correct address, and the post office returned to sender vs. delivering it?
I've never had experience with the post office returning stuff like that. When I mail stuff to my Grandmother I address the envelope "Gram" and then her mailing address, no last name or anything and I've never had a letter returned to me.

I don't think the Post office really looks at the names. Otherwise, I wouldn't be getting mail for people who haven't lived here since we signed the lease three years ago.
This is just eye roll worthy. Next time if you put dad's name on them she would probably have something to say about that. It is just a personal preference. I address things to my Grandma as Grandma LastName still at 30. The post office uses the name as the last resort and the first name doesn't mean anything. I think the labels are a great idea for the kids. This year they will be older and maybe they can address the letters how they like.
I send letters to my friends all the time with their nicknames on them instead of their real names. I sent one to my friend Erin the other day and addressed it to "Cowgirl E-Dog" and it got to her. Obviously, her last name is not E-dog.
